He also walks at a decent rate. It's like he seldom get a normal out where the ball goes into the air and someone catches it
Did Gerald Young debut on the same night as Caminiti? Edit: I looked it up. He was 8 days before Caminiti. I always remembered it as the same game. Oh well.
No (Young was about a week before), but Caminiti's a good one to bring up alongside Cole to answer @Fulgore's question "best debut in Astros history"
He’s always the first person I think of for great Astros debuts. Also, Caminiti stayed on fire for a few weeks or so after his debut. Red hot. I will always remember that
Dad and I (and maybe my brother) were at Cammy's debut game. He had a couple of all-world plays in the field too...we probably looked at each other and said "Wow" and "I think I like this guy" about 6 times that game
Plate discipline. something this team knows nothing about and seems to be relearning way too late in the season
Well yeah, not anymore eta: 200K in a season has happened 22 times, and they've all been since 2008 Bobby Bonds with 189 in 1970 is the only player in the top 50 that didn't happen in the 2000's https://www.baseball-reference.com/leaders/SO_season.shtml
Maybe 200 isn't the criteria I'm looking for but maybe top 25 percent in strikeouts and top 25 percent in walks. I hope you get what I'm talking about.
