In fairness we really do not know the motive.

Yes, he has all the hallmarks of a very conservative person, but we don't have the figurative smoking gun yet.

The #1 reason I think someone would murder Kirk would be because they're super anti-semitic, which doesn't seem to track in this case.

The idea that someone murdered Kirk because he's not conservative enough is just wild to me.

Important to note that in almost all of these cases none of these shooter's are profiled to be affiliated strongly with any political belief system. They are though... almost always white, young, male, lonely, gun culture, radicalized online, looking for community, and opportunistic to make a name for themselves by killing in a way that gets them in the news.

Kirk coming to his backyard points towards the opportunistic nature of his violent snap. Much like the PA shooter with Trump if you believe the presented facts of that case, and don't believe he was a patsy. Or even Luigi Magioni. But put all that aside and it's almost always the same profile... a profile which tells me they aren't political activists but troubled violent young white men who are opportunistic to turn to violence in a way that gives themselves the delusions of grandeur they are seeking.

He was more political the last few years... We had a Presidential election less than a year ago and he didn't vote.

 

I find it ridiculous personally to indoctrinate children on the way of guns by giving them full on exposure to gun culture. This is also the planting of a seed that you don't know how it's going to grow or sprout. I grew up in a non-gun owning family where I shot an occassional gun owned by someone else. I wouldn't want it any other way. If you're out shooting guns as a kid with Dad cheering you on versus doing other things that kids should be doing, then I don't agree with it and never will. And, it sets up a lot of these crimes that happen in the future when they stray off the righteous path. Guns require a lot of responsibility. Little kids running around with rifles so they can be plastered on social media as patriots or whatever is a freaking joke. They haven't even been through puberty yet.

This is what's so toxic and dangerous about Trump's divisive rhetoric. He needs to simply condemn all attacks like this and stop blaming radical leftists, Marxists, Communists and other garbage. Do you really think he cares more about the hundreds of Epstein victims more than covering up some facts that might incriminate himself or his "pedo friends" and old friend Maxwell? I think it is far too premature to have conclusions about what this kid's politics or motivations were. So what, he grew up in a conservative household. Among conservative states, Utah had been somewhat more resistant to the MAGA takeover of the party than most. Could be a traditional conservative who doesn't like the fascist vibes. Could be a liberal kid in a conservative household. Could be more driven for notoriety than politics. I have no idea and I'll just wait to actually find out.

 

I doubt we ever find out.....his father turned him in though - that had to be tough.
