Fueling hate matters more to these people than truth, unity, and empathy. Do we know for certain what the laughter in the background was about? No, and it doesn’t matter. Drawing clear red lines on who is the “enemy” is all that matters.

Yeah - Kirk was a weirdo that believed in some extreme things and loved to be provocative. He still didn't deserve to die.
Not really - guns, trans, gays, premarital sex and women being subservient to a husband was literally 80% of his schtick..... throw in some race issues and that was about all he talked about. I went to a couple of his speaking engagements in Illinois. He was for the most part very cordial and polite and seemed likeable... some of the stuff that came out of his mouth was pretty bad, but he always was civil.
At around the 1:30 mark of the video, someone off camera clarifies that the cheering was actually about a car chase that was simultaneously happening somewhere else. But if someone reads the outraged post and only watches the first 20 seconds, they wouldn't know that.
Doesn't mean he should be killed like that. Someone on his side could turn around and say "oh you believe x, y, z, so now you have to get shot too!" That civility came from his Christianity by the way.
Never said Kirk should have been murdered. I actually a number of times said that Kirk did not deserve to be murdered - that his wife and children did not and do not deserve any of this. There is no justification for any of. His civility came from her personality and how he chose to conduct himself, he can credit Christianity if he wanted to - but there are plenty of prominent people that claim they live by Christianity (or any other philosophy/faith) that do not conduct themselves in a civil matter. I don't agree with some of the beliefs that Kirk had - and he IMO had some very bigoted and harmful beliefs, but I also am a strong supporter of free speech and dialogue. You know that - I got a lot of **** for being against many of the extremist left wingers that wanted to shut down any speech they viewed as hateful.... I may not like Kirk's views but it is a slippery slope to stop free speech. I feel really bad for Kirk's family - but I also selfishly am concerned about the country going forward.
