They are asking for people to be angry at them, yes. How much money has Ben Shapiro made with his “owning the libs” clips?

Are they asking to be beaten down or murdered? No, hence the security detail.

Seems they are on him now though, he jumped off the building they found the rifle in the woods....bolt action, college aged male.....

Armed society, hateful rhetoric, divisive politics, this is going to keep happening ....I don't like Kirk and his racism and bullshit shallow arguments and I think he will be forgotten fairly soon, but free speech means you have the right to be an ******* and no doubt his debating was a popular style with college students....and he had a wife and daughter, that had to witness his death.

No one should have to go through that.....

And yes, I blame DJT and his policies, politics and speech for where we are as a country, we weren't here when Obama was President....but we are here now......and IMHO it will only get worse.

They are asking for something. They want a reaction. They aren't asking to be murdered or shot, but they want to be seen, and creating a scene is best done with conflict.

This is where we disagree - I think Charlie Kirk being murdered through gun violence, while answering a question about guns rights - and based on his prior quotes DOES undermine his viewpoint on that topic with some people.

His death is horrific - but encapsulates a lot of the problems that exist in the USA right now. From the extreme level of unfiltered social media, to the fact that he was actually debating with someone that trans people should not be able to own firearms (but others can), to the sanctity of guns at all costs by some people, to the massive divisive state of the USA -- to a lack of empathy in the world (Charlie Kirk said he didn't believe in empathy and TMZ and social media had people celebrating the assassination of Kirk).

His death is just a further escalation - from the Governor or Pennsylvania having someone commit arson on the governor's mansion, to someone taking a hammer to the head of Nancy Pelosi's wife, to the shooting in Arizona of a congress lady, to the shooting of Trump....this is all getting worse, and it isn't a liberal or conservative issue.... it is an American problem, and these people on social media and politician pushing extremism and other Americans as the enemy ARE the enemy.

100% they are taking advantage of what social medias algorithms have taught us, there is money to be made by riling people up.

And Nook is correct, the people that are not filtering social media or allowing algorithms to be voluntary are the true enemies of a healthy society.

Yes, “some people”. But not the people on his side of the debate, IMO. That’s my point.

In the USA - yes, so far.

However, history shows that both will murder if they feel threatened enough.

If we really see bans on trans having guns, Trump getting a third term-- continued spread of ICE, and taking of US citizens... we will start seeing more leftist violence as a response.

It was only about 100-120 years ago we had lots of leftist violence in the USA with anarchists and communists bombing, and it was present in most of Europe as well. Having said that - there was certainly lots of violence from the right as well.

Fun fact. Patel and Borgino fired the special agent in charge of the Salt Lake City FBI office when they started purging agents several months ago. I think roughly 1/3 of SAICs were purged and there haven't been replacements in most cases.

So it shouldn't be shocking how useless the FBI has been. They've completely knee capped the most effective law enforcement agency in the world.

Not just the USA. Everywhere and all throughout history.

The left destroys property and causes civil disruption. Less focus, more chaos.

The right uses more visercal violence and targeted attacks. Specific and usually pretty brutal.

Singer and Haidt write about this at length. It's very interesting how the values of each group are so different and lead to such different outcomes, for both good and bad ends.

Not so sure about this - most people do not change their mind, but some do. I have personally changed my viewpoint on guns in the USA, and my wife who was a member of the NRA for years changed hers as well. There are also a lot of people that don't have strong opinions that are pushed to more definitive opinions by things like this.

This was a perfect vortex of a lot of events and circumstances all coming together -- and now a 30 year old man was murdered, tens of millions of Americans have seen him murdered by a gun in detail, in a state that recently decided to allow guns on campus - two children and a wife no longer have a husband and father and witnessed his death -- while he defended gun ownership, down played gun violence and was discussing the absurd idea of limiting gun ownership for the trans community, but not the larger population.

Some of those look to be spam accounts, but I'm sure you could find similar on Twitter, and always have been. The way to judge is are those accounts left up or are they banned.

That makes literally no sense. Howard Stern is a "provocateur". Is calling Stern that implying that he deserves to be shot dead in a cold blooded murder??

Kirk went to college campuses for a reason. He went there TO PROVOKE a demographic of the population that largely views his ideology as hostile to their ideals. However he was going there to PROVOKE a DEBATE. A debate he obviously thought he could win, and was making a difference for the MAGA ideology, and political movement.

Please stop gaslighting. You know Durv was not insinuating that he was "asking for it." That's fcking out of line dude.

Twitter and apps like it are an anonymous public toilet and should be treated with about as much seriousness.

Some of these people want to ban guns - but only for trans people.

Some of these people don't have an issue with unmarked vans, with people that have their faces covered taking people from the street with no record as to what happened to them - with some of them ending up in war torn areas across the globe.

So - no, the idea of free speech only extends to THEIR free speech, not anyone else's that is contrary.

In fairness to them - there are some weirdos on the left that are guilty of the same thing...... but if anything has been learned over the last 25 years, it is that "reasonable" just doesn't work at this point in time.
