I'm actually surprised there aren't more licensed hunters. I'm one and I don't hunt. Most of them just really suck in my experience. You don't usually need to be as most of the time, you are shooting at closer range than that.

What about military? My parents were air force, so I didn't really know, but what distance do army/marines train at.

Hard to understand what you’re saying here with what I expect is bad grammar/punctuation.

I added the annual deer harvest for the U.S. to my previous comment, something on the order of six million deer each year. I don't think hunters that "really suck" can reliably and predictably kill that number of deer on an annual basis:

marksmanship badges differ by branch of service, but typically 5 meters to 300 meters:

I was Air Force and did rifle training at Lackland AFB. It was one day of class and one day on the range. I do not know the actual distance but it wasn't very far back in 1986. I know they have updated the rifle program since then, but those of us who were in the Air Force at that time sought out training for other endeavors according to their specific roles within the USAF. I spent one day on the range and 9 months in Tech School for my specific role.
Take a trip to Rantoul, Illinois in January. It's a very special place. NOT.

This guy sums up quite well what is going on in this country. It even explains the other thread's "discourse" about the same subject on here in a way.

Most deer are going to be shot at less than 100 yards, at least around here. Most of the time you're in a tree stand in the middle of the woods, it is really hard to shoot that far even if you are a good shot because of trees. My experience is accuracy drops a lot going from the 50 yard target to the 100 yard target, which is the farthest on our range. But it is all relative. Small sample size of friends I've shot with that are active hunters, plus where I live could play a role in it. Some places people hunt may be far more likely to have open fields they hunt on. We are also talking about much higher stress (you would imagine) compared to shooting a deer. Millions of people could make that shot, but to hit accurately on a single shot, from a spot they obviously couldn't have practiced from? I don't know about that. I just don't think your average hunter is that good. But heck if you hit the target 1 of 3 times (which is what it took my buddy to hit the tannerite at his gender reveal party), it is a pretty decent chance. It is also fair to say, my friends aren't always using the highest quality ammo, guns, & scopes out at the range. I just get a lot of enjoyment out of beating them despite not doing it nearly as often and with weapons I've never even used before. It is like how I'm somehow just as bad at golf as I was 20 years ago. You'd think I'd get better.

I can't believe marksmanship at 5M is a thing. Like how tiny of a target am I trying to hit at that distance? Unless it using something like throwing knives.

Similar time to my parents that would have been at Basic in 1981 & 1982. My dad said he had one day, like you on the range, and that was all he ever had. I figure army and marines receive far more training with rifles given they are more likely to need them. I would even expect it to be part of their evaluations, but I really have no idea.

just saying it doesn't take a professional hit man to make a sub-200 yard shot with a bolt action rifle. Anyone who has zeroed in a rifle with a scope is basically able to make that shot. With a 150 yard zero you're basically an inch high at 75 and an inch low at 200 yards.

    QUESTION:
If a man is aiming a gun at you . . . .it's ok to kill them
If a man is standing next to a man with a gun and begging/cheering/trying to convince that man with the gun to shoot you . .. and he won't stop until he finds someone to shoot you . . . .. . it's not ok to kill that man . . .is that it?

Americans celebrated Bin Laden's death. He didn't put the planes in the buildings. He just encouraged it. He talked it into existence.

I have seen their side celebrate many deaths. Travon/Mike Brown/Eric Garner/George Floyd

I'm not going to celebrate anyone's death but I am not going to feel sad that someone who wanted my suffering and even my death

the assassination was bad enough, but if Kirk's killer isn't found, it will be a mortal blow to free speech

no one with any influence on the right is safe to speak out (which was the intent of the killing)
