I mean, they must, right? In this age of constant surveillance and digital footprints, it's hard to imagine someone able to assassinate someone in public in the U.S. and not leave a trace or a few witnesses.

Well they detained two people who were not the shooter. It’s been way too many hours for this person not to have a legitimate way to disappear.

 

Trump invented hateful rhetoric. What is he talking about? Such bullshit!

 

My intentions were to point out this his murder doesn’t undermine his viewpoints relating to gun rights and gun violence (viewpoints I disagree with) in any meaningful way. Is there irony here? Sure. But it strikes me as more of an attempt at rhetorical point scoring than serious critique to bring up that quote now.

 

Or just taken - on a planned escape, I mean that is in provo it is a city right by Salt Lake City, that person could be anywhere, they might be in Nevada, or Wyoming, or Colorado by now.

But the fact that Trump is USING this murder to rile people up, is exactly why Trump can't be President.

Looking at the layout, and where the shooter was - there is a parking lot right next to it, and College drive next to that, the shooter could have packed up, gotten to the car and left in about 5 or so minutes - I mean people were still running and panicking - that shooter probably got clean away, this looks like something seriously planned out.

I am sure they had cameras that can identify cars that left, so maybe they catch the shooter that way, but if it is a professional hit, the car will have been stolen or the plates obscured etc, and they are in the wind.

Remember the alleged Trump assisination attempt? There was zero investigation afterwards, and Trump never talks about it.....and he NEVER SHUTS UP about anything he does.....

If this is a staged event - or another foreign country - makes no sense as kirk isn't important in that way, clearly is as a family man etc - then this investigation will die quickly and that is a big tell.

with a bolt action deer rifle, you retain the casing in the chamber until the bolt is pulled back, and then it's easy to retain/police your brass.

all this speculation about "professional hit" is just that, speculation. Bad speculation.

 

To be fair, that is something a professional would think of better than an amateur. We don't typically see single shots like this. Obviously the person was also a good enough shooter to be on target from 200+ yards.

 

to be fair, millions of amateur hunters shoot millions of animals every year at 200+ yards, many if not most taking only one shot to accomplish the task

 

I wouldn't say millions, but yes, lots of people who are not hitmen can make the shot (I've actually been very amazed how terrible of shots my hunting friends have been). What it speaks to is an experienced shooter who was confident in their ability.

but on hunters--there are 14.4 licensed hunters in the U.S., and I'm seeing estimates in the millions for harvest each year (although obviously that's an impossible figure to "prove" as there are no reliable ways of totaling up an overall figure from so many different sources, locations, and target species).

Assassinating someone and slipping away in broad daylight undetected in the age of surveillance is more impressive than the shot itself. I know Orem isn't NYC, but still.

 

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the left riots, the right murders.

There are minor exceptions, but on the whole, that's how each side deals with their problems beyond the ballot box.
