The way I read the article I provided is that most of his crimes were misdemeanors. The way I read it is he did 6 years for robbery with a weapon and those were his first felonies. That would seem about right to me.

    I stand by that.

I didn't know he assaulted his sister after getting out of prison

This is likely the latest NATO attempt to start a larger war... likely pushed on by the Ukrainians who are desperate for cash and attention... Don't fall for it. These drones were reconnaissance drones that likely were pushed off course. These were not attack drones. Once again, the military-industrial complex is trying to provoke the world into war. NO MORE WAR.

    https://www.wsj.com/world/europe/poland-russia-drones-nato-territory-692452e8

Russia’s Defense Ministry said it had no plans to strike any targets in Poland and was ready to carry out consultations with the Polish military on the incident. It also said the drones that crossed the border have a flight limit of around 400 miles, a distance that could make launching them from Russia difficult.

Experts say images posted on Polish state media of the small aircraft suggest they were Russian reconnaissance drones or decoys, most likely the Gerbera model. Serhiy Beskrestnov, a Ukrainian expert on electronic warfare, said the use of Gerbera drones—which can serve a reconnaissance purpose when outfitted with a camera—suggests Russia was testing NATO’s resolve by forcing Poland and its allies to scramble air defenses, allowing Moscow to assess the speed and efficiency of the response.

Gerbera drones are more vulnerable to spoofing than the explosive Shahed drones that Russia normally uses to strike targets in Ukraine, Beskrestnov said. But he added that it is unlikely the drones could have veered far into Polish airspace as a result of Ukrainian spoofing, both because of their sheer number and because their satellite navigation and autonomous inertial systems would have corrected their trajectory once they were pushed off course.

strong words; note the Soviet reference.

my only issue is the reference to NATO's "eastern flank." the east is NATO's front.

You are psychotic. It's one thing to troll the forum with your nonsense, but the number of lies that you are piling up is becoming absurd. I'm tempted to add you to the other time wasters parked in my "ignore" collection of bigots and fools.

Ex-Trump officials warn on Putin after Poland strike as critics rip Trump

Two former top Trump officials from his first administration sounded the alarm after Russia attacked Poland Tuesday night, as several critics assailed the President for years of insisting Putin would never have dared attack Ukraine if he were in office.

Russia launched more than a dozen drones into Poland, which “prompted NATO forces to launch warplanes overnight,” according to The New York Times.

But NATO reportedly did so without help from the U.S.

“It’s notable that the NATO response to Russia’s drone incursion across the border into Poland makes no mention of US military assistance to defend Poland,” reported Fox News chief national security correspondent Jennifer Griffin. NATO Secretary general Mark Rutte “mentions Polish F16s, Dutch F35s, Italian AWACS, and German Patriots. Russia’s testing of NATO airspace to test NATO’s response comes just days after the Pentagon informed NATO Allies bordering Russia that the US will halt training and security funding to them.”

The attack occurred as President Trump was dining at Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab in D.C., with his Secretary of State and his Secretary of Defense. He was besieged by protestors caught on camera.

Former Trump National Security Advisor John Bolton slammed President Putin and invoked Trump’s Alaska Summit as well.

“Putin has acted like he has a free hand since the Alaska summit,” Ambassador Bolton wrote on Wednesday. “He’s ignored any further conversation on a ceasefire, the Russian military is expanding its operations, and he’s received the political support of his friends Xi Jinping, Narendra Modi, and Kim Jong Un.”

Political science professor Maria Popova responded: “American weakness always fuels russian aggression.”

Former Trump Vice President Mike Pence urged U.S. action.

“As Russian drones violate Polish and NATO airspace and Russia continues to escalate it’s brutal attacks on civilian populations across Ukraine, it’s time for renewed military support for Ukraine and allies in Eastern Europe and harsh new sanctions on Russia. Peace comes through strength,” Pence wrote.

His remarks also came days after the Pentagon announced it will no longer be supporting programs that help America’s European allies stave off attacks from Russia, as The New York Times reported last week.

Meanwhile, critics are blasting President Trump for what they see as weakness and a lack of action.

Alexander Vindman, a former Director of European Affairs for the United States National Security Council (NSC), wrote: “Trump right now getting ready with: if I were president Russia never would have attacked Poland/NATO. @realDonaldTrump‘s weakness has been encouraging Russian aggression.”

Attorney George Conway, a well-known Trump critic, wrote: “None of this would have happened on any day if virtually anyone other than Donald Trump were president.”

Russian expert Julia Davis, a Daily Beast columnist, responded: “It will get worse,” to which Conway agreed.

So far, Trump has said nothing on his Truth Social account about Russia attacking Poland, but the U.S. Ambassador to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, wrote: “We stand by our @NATO Allies in the face of these airspace violations and will defend every inch of NATO territory.”

'Not particularly deep': Trump mocked for response to Russia attack

President Donald Trump is under fire for waiting more than twelve hours before addressing Russia’s unprovoked attack on Poland, a NATO ally, and then delivering a short statement.

Russia launched more than a dozen drones into Poland, in what some critics believe is a testing of the waters to see if and how NATO would respond. Political scientist Ian Bremmer called it “a critical geopolitical test of the alliance from Russia.”

NATO launched numerous fighter jets but none were from the U.S., despite American having troops in Poland.

“NATO fighter jets shot down Russian drones over Poland, the alliance has confirmed,” reported Chris Gordon, Pentagon editor for Air & Space Forces Magazine. “This is the first time NATO planes have engaged potential threats in Allied airspace,” Col. Martin L. O’Donnell, the spokesperson for NATO’s Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, told Air & Space Forces Magazine.

Wednesday morning at 11:09 AM, President Trump posted this response on his Truth Social website: “What’s with Russia violating Poland’s airspace with drones? Here we go!”

Journalist Aaron Rupar noted that “it took the president more than 12 hours to come up with this.”

The Bulwark’s Sam Stein added, “After 12 or so hours, we finally get word from Trump on the Russian drone operation in Poland and it is not particularly deep.”

Political commentator Brian Allen remarked, “Trump waited 12 hours just to post ‘Here we go!’ after a NATO country was attacked by Russia. No plan. No leadership. Just another day where the man who once called Putin a ‘genius’ has no clue what Article 4 means. America can’t afford this level of unserious.”

Meanwhile, ABC News reported that “Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski had strong words for Trump during a news conference on Wednesday, telling reporters Russian President Vladimir Putin ‘laughs’ at Trump’s peace efforts.”

“Putin laughs at President Trump’s peace efforts,” Sikorski said. “Since Alaska, he has only intensified the war. I hope that [Trump] backs his words with action.”

I don’t really get this at all. Russia must be stupid if they did this. Nothing positive can come out of this from a Russian standpoint.

They're trying to frighten members of NATO. It certainly wasn't an accident. Putin is feeling his oats after watching Xi's huge military parade.

Putin must feel like he has been backed into a corner. Russia has paid a HUGE price for just little gain in land since their 2022 invasion. Russia's current tactics are not working. Putin might realize that if something does not change there may be a palace revolt. Putin might want to widen the war to re-engage the Russian people, expand his war time powers and perhaps save his own ass for a little bit longer.
