Too frustrating to watch regularly right now. Time to pull back. I don't need this self-inflicted agita every weeknight.
The Astros are in a free fall. This is now the worst loss of the season. Altuve had his McGrady in Toronto game. It's rough.
even if let's say Urias get to that ball and get vladdy jr out, it wouldn't even matter anyway because Straw would still be at 3rd with 1 out. 1 ground ball or fly ball win you the game with Straw's speed. you HAVE to score and score multiple runs in extras as an away team.
Failing to capitalize with RISP continues to be the biggest problem with the Astros. I'd say it's been their biggest flaw ever since the start of the 2023 season. They are decent at getting on base to begin with, but once a runner reaches 2nd or 3rd, they suddenly turn into the damn Pittsburgh Pirates at the plate. Abreu does not have the mental toughness to be effective in the 9th inning. Closer will remain an adventure until Hader gets back, which seems unlikely unless the Astros somehow manage to make a deep playoff run. Walker just sucks. I'd be ok if the Astros drastically reduced his PT and gave Caratini far more starts at 1st. At least Caratini knows how to have professional-caliber at-bats. Altuve continues to try too hard, which contributes to his poor decision making. Biggest immediate concern is Luis Garcia. Hopefully the injury isn't as bad as it looked, but I'm very pessimistic about that. I suspect he's done for the season and probably way longer. Feel really bad for him. Espada ain't it, he's too soft and in over his head. Astros need a new manager and a new hitting coach.
I would hope poster is saying he’s in his own head trying to make a play during his horrid slump instead of just playing the game.
for his AB, he's trying to hard. swinging at everything. for his defense and basepath, he's lazy and lacks focus.
So, Abreu's velo is down?!! Radio said hus FB is hitting 95-96 sometimes. He needs a week off. Now Garcia is hurt again too. Injuries have decimated this team, and the offense isn't doing enough to counteract the imbalance.
Abreu is just becoming way too predictable, especially if his breaking stuff is off which is has been off a ton lately.
