Hector Nieves? Not sure I know who you are talking about. Can you help me figure out who you mean?

    Xavier Nayens?
But he is a ways away if that's the guy?

I’m poking fun. He was a non-prospect you listed as one of your top 5 prospects in the system a couple years ago, just a few weeks before he was released.

My memory is failing fast. Poking fun at me requires a more direct approach these days.
I am spending some time today looking for summer league prospects finishing with better than expected out looks for 2026. Any thoughts?

Not sure what you mean by summer league prospects. Off the cuff here are guys I think are ending the season with their arrows pointing up:

P: Ethan Pecko, Alimber Santa, Alonzo Tredwell, James Hicks, Trey Dombroski, Ramsey David, Dylan Howard, Andrew Taylor, Luis Aguilar, Jesus Carrera, Francisco Frias, Eurys Martich, Joan Ogando, Parker Smith
C: Collin Price, Andrews Sosa, Yosweld Vasquez
    IF: Zach Daudet
OF: Zach Cole, Pedro Leon, Chase Call, Ethan Frey, Justin Thomas

This is a Mariners type collapse....the lead shrinks even more tonight.

Astros in Toronto, oh boy, that's going to be a blood bath. Astros will be out of first place when they leave. There is really no sense in making the playoffs if you are not a legit playoff team. Hope they prove me wrong.

Maybe. The more Astros thing would be to somehow sweep Toronto and then get swept by Atlanta.

If I were Dana Brown and I was offered something similar to what I got for Tucker, I would deal Pena.

The Astros can find another passable shortstop if they fill multiple holes by trading Pena.

Getting a middle of the rotation arm under arbitration control, and one really promising offensive player or a really good young reliever under long term control would be enough for me. It is the balance of finances and performance.

Throw Zach Cole a shortstop glove and let him play there---- because apparently he can do anything well on a baseball diamond except make consistent contact ; )

I wonder what the odds are that Cam Smith could play SS with an entire offseason to get ready.

...and I originally thought the Rooney injury was just injured list manipulation.

We've now hit scale, we are doing pre-emptive elbow surgeries.

Astros up to 4 starting pitchers who will occupy 40 man spots this offseason and likely be unavailable until 2027. That only leaves 10 roster spots for guys they can stash in the minors on opening day. Brutal.

Hader still not throwing...if he doesn't start a throwing program in the next week you can kiss his availability for any playoffs goodbye.

It is a wait and see situation for him and Sousa.

Good chance Sousa may not be available for the first round if at all.

Hader will go if he can, even if it means limited rehab -- he really wants to pitch this season in the playoffs.
