Pretty sweet deal. The big three could not afford it and Dish-Network-Sucks Charlie Ergon had to offload this spectrum because he refused to build on it. Now what is Starlink going to do with it? Will Apple and Android play ball? There is lots of synergy with Apple and Tesla. (ie: Siri sucks and Grok needs hardware)
In other words, it was a huge, huge mistake to have a toll road there in the first place. But they have to save face and try to make back the money they were forced to spend to reacquire the toll road from that French company.
It wasn't just a huge mistake to put a toll road, it's designed fking pathetically. i want to punch the designers in the face. so many freaking bad decisions. 1. left lane entrances to the toll road 2. left lane exits with a V shaped merge from the toll road...thus backing up the left lane on regular 288. 3. took away multiple dedicated entrance lanes and made them V shaped merges...causing more traffic. 4. took away the entrance to beltway 8 west prior to the toll booth and now you have to go on the feeder past another signal to get on...or use the new bridge for $3!!! 5. no easy way to get on the toll road if you are on 288 south. your options are near downtown or med center. wtf. 6. the signs with the prices are like a mile away from the entrance. wtf. here's what they could have done for much cheaper. add dedicated lanes for exits/entrances to 288 to avoid the rubbernecking because of merges/stupid people. police the road to remove left lane hoggers and increase the speed limit to 65. and if they really wanted more lanes.. add 1 or 2 lanes each way to regular 288 and tag them as toll/HOV like the I-10 ones. they created an inefficient and expensive toll road and addressed NONE of the reasons why there was traffic to begin with.
