Or Father Time has come on quickly. Either way, the result is the same: he's currently awful.

To me it doesn't "look" like he`s hurt but who knows, what I do know is he is slumping hard...............I actually hope it's an injury and not father time cause father time is undefeated

Altuve is extremely hard to analyze. Hes too unique. He has a lot of underlying numbers that align with a terrible, aging, low ceiling player, but he’s had similar numbers in the past and managed to be an elite offensive producer. But it’s amazing a player with 17th percentile bat speed, 5th percentile chase rate, and 3rd percentile EV this season has been even remotely playable, especially considering he’s a bad defensive player who doesn’t walk and makes loads of baserunning errors.

Lets just hope that Altuve finds one of those hot streaks going in to September/October where he is bashing multi hit game after multi hit game.

    He is more than due.

His obituary has been written more than a few times.

I remember the degenerative knee/hip issue which is ominous and many people felt that was likely the end (and it has been for many people).

I remember the drop in bat speed and foot speed.

I remember the beginning of this year and people said he was toast before he got a little rest and then exploded for 6 weeks.

FWIW I think it is a lot of things, I think age is part of it - but I think a lot of it is that he is a small guy and he is tired and tends to break down. The last like 3 years this has happened. Ideally the Astros would have a large lead in the division and he would only have to play 120 games a year.

Also - look at his DH numbers compared to when he plays the field. There is a pronounced difference.

This is really simple - the Astros (and Mariners in all fairness) have ****ed around for basically 6 weeks and one or both of them are likely going to find out. The Astros have the excuse of massive injuries, but the Astros also had a 5 game lead and now it is 2. The margin for error is now smaller and teams like the Rangers, Yankees, Red Sox and even KC have life when the Astros could have locked this up 3-4 weeks ago. The Astros got lucky that the M's have basically choked. The Astros could easily have a 7-8 game lead in the division, and instead they could be in second place after the Jays series.

Excellent post, we have been dam lucky the M`s were losing at the pace we were but now were at the finish line and everyone is so close to us and we could have been up by 7-8.............F around and pay the cost, TBH the Jekyll and Hide personality of this team leads me to believe I won't be shocked if we go on a tear and light everyone up or we completely **** the bed and lose the lead over the next few weeks..........my feels have been on a roller coaster all year, but I am here for it

Ok, scratch Garcia from potential playoff rotation.

We will be down to only Brown and Valdez by the time the regular season is over. We'll be pitching Alexander and Gordon. Yikes.

If he hadn't totally jaked a play on the bases, and a play in the field, the Astros win that game.

He should be ashamed of himself.
