I'm going to hold off on the online, I felt like the oline for what it was...was pretty good. I mean it was a patchwork oline once again... CJ had some bad plays where he held it too long, that's whatever. The INT was unfortunate. I'm going to wait till some more analysis because I have a feeling our rookie WRs that we hyped up all preseason might not be getting open very often and that's why the offense looks trash tier again. Will have to see since the TV broadcast doesn't really show whats going on down the field. Offense has been garbage since Tank went out and as good as Nico is, he can't do it all himself.
You have one offensive guard out and somehow that causes you to play three different guys in positions that they are unaccustomed to playing. Make it make sense. Just replace the guy that's out and roll with it.
We did this all year last year and Demeco let him get burnt over and over again by Jefferson, Adams, etc.
They are, but we do stupid **** like run a sweep to the short side of the field, we run a play one time that shows promise (The Screen pass in the 1Q) that one guy slipped a block and stopped but it was going a long way, and we never went back to it. Our QB can't read a blitz well enough or the line of scrimmage and find his hot route, he did late on that one to the flat, but he got hit too much because he holds the ball too long and tosses it up HOPING for a completion. We don't move the pocket around, the Rams were stacking the box, and leaving the middle WIDE Open for a TE drag or hook and we never went there - it is hard to watch a team CARE and play so hard, but be stupid and undisciplined. We are getting outsmarted on the weekly....far too conservative - I turned to my son on that last 3rd down play and said, the Rams have a coach that will play to win, this will be a fake handoff and a pass to go for the win......and wallah, exactly what happened, and we were unprepared. Too many penalties for being stupid, very poor reading of the D at the line of scrimmage, and took ZERO shots deep to alleviate the pressure.... I would love to play DeMeco for money in Madden, I would own his entire bank account.....he is just so easy to game plan against. In the end FOOTBALL is a game, and outsmarting the other team is a good thing to do...... DD
Didn't think he did the game plans. Thought Caley was supposed to be the opposite of Sowik. At this point, I don't see any difference.
The INT was not an INT. Doesn't feel like the play calls changed much from last year... not good. This was a winnable game... it just felt like there was a resignation to losing
It was a pick. The ball hit the ground but he didn't lose control, nor did the ground assist in the catch. It was a classic Texans L. Never felt like we could win once it started getting late and we were losing.
I want to go to this Texans at Chargers game in Dec and for it to mean something. Long ass season but man this game looked like almost every game last season. We have a defense at least but we knew that.
41% pressure rate fyi….. the same **** Mahomes looked like total crap in the Super Bowl. Again… if you guys have to box score watch to see if someone played well or not, maybe this will help read in between the lines.
Disagree... the feed I was watching sh6wed the ball move when it was in between his side & arm. I may be misremembering, but I believed that ball could not move when touching the ground.
No it moved - the point came up and towards the camera - but he didn't lose possession, it is the way it is called now. That punch out by their defender was a great play, but I don't believe we would have scored, I don't think we have any idea how to run an offense right now. This team is going nowhere, even if we somehow make the playoffs we aren't winning anything, unless we get a lot better at play calling, and someone teaches CJ how to read defenses at the line of scrimmage and gives him some audible options. DD
I do feel like this is a prove it year for Demeco, the talent is there to be better than this. It does feel like the playcalling is always so conservative. I think the Texans will win the AFCS again but it is hard to imagine this team going through the Ravens or KC or the Bills and other teams in the AFC we were better than last year...Chargers, Bengals. Maybe the Rams are this good, they did make some changes to their defense, but yeah this first week showing looks like the exact same team last year but actually worse since Mixon is hurt.
Demeco's teams are just plain undisciplined. It's SWARM over smart football. It's a hallmark of his now. Every season we are near the top in penalties since he was hired.
