I can’t believe you guys aren’t in here celebrating another crown jewel of the Trump administration and policy platform.

 

Science has been politicized by Democrats over the years... Democrats who held the purse strings for research funding at Universities and various governments, foundations, certain public companies, and other philanthropic groups... Many scientific assumptions were not challenged because the liberal scientific community did not want to have the conversation. RFK is breaking up that liberal alliance that controlled the scientific community's money... and that's a GREAT thing for science. Science is about testing, exploring, learning... and liberals are all about censorship and top down, command-and-control uniformity. Science will stall under Democratic leadership because the status quo will not be challenged.

RFK is making the most political progress on the MAHA movement -- that pulls in a LOT of independent support. I don't feel strongly about some of the vaccine policies... but I do know that people are morons who try to equate the polio and measles vaccines to far less-proven vaccines -- especially the COVID clot shot.... which obviously was not a vaccine.

Related question, what segments of the US population do you think are educated and smart enough to research and understand the science behind vaccines? I mean, we all agree that it’s not like that stuff is easy to understand, right?

- inner city high school dropouts?
- adults with GEDs?
- adults who graduated high school with a C average and struggled with basic biology and chemistry
- adults with high school degrees but had/have problems reading?
- adults who graduated high school with As and Bs ?
- what percentage of bubba’s at Cracker Barrel or IHOP could understand the science of vaccines?

I'm also a fan of team individual choice when the result doesn't affect other people.Choose to eat unhealthy and die at an earlier age? Sure, go for it.

On the other hand, someone choosing not to get the vaccine will affect the chance of whether or not I get sick even if I get the shot since it will affect the amount of virus in circulation. People who are unable to get vaxxed due to other health complications are also just SOL.

I think there is a price to freedom and personal liberty. Unless there are significant deaths like Covid, I don't think you should be able to force someone to do something they don't want to do. Where things get grey for me is kids. Should a kid get punished for having stupid parents like some people on this board.

 

We are all paying for price for RFK's dumb takes though.

 

It's the way of the world, hope to get lucky with decent parents. Reading this subforum doesn't give one much hope for the future though.

 

I think an adult should be able to make their own choice, but they must realize there could be consequences, for example during Covid, if you don't want a shot but your company makes you if you want to work around others, you have a choice, get it or find a new job

But when it comes to kids, there is decades worth of proof that kids who get Polio, Mesales Vacs etc should be required to get them for the sake of everyone. What happens when the first case of friggin Polio creep into Fl or a huge outbreak of measles and kids start dying.......then and only then will they care.

 

The way I interpret this is that .... because there are so many stupid people, we all need the government to tell us what to do.

It’s ok, you can say it with me - those people (except perhaps the last group) simply do not have the ability to research and understand the science behind the Covid vaccine.

Of course not. It is very hard to understand medicine and science. I have a college and law degree and am pretty proficient in understanding science, and it was damn hard for me.

So what do we do?

Seems to me, we should let the doctors lead, no? Our primary care doctors, specialists who know our heart and lung conditions, private sector doctors, government researchers, NIH, CDC. People should consult with experts when faced with an important issue they don’t understand - whether it is doctors, lawyers, engineers, refrigerator repairmen, AC guys, car mechanics.

What is the role of government scientists and doctors? Partner with private sector doctors and do their best to advise the public based on the best available information at the time the advice is given. Do you disagree?

But back to the first question I asked - was the COVID vaccine a “clot shot” and people killer like @El_Conquistador and RFk Jr claim?

Surely you consulted a doctor and reached a conclusion on whether you should get it?
