In the bottom half in stolen bases(way low), and sac flies. Only Toronto has more GIDP in the AL. Bad combination.
Trammell is 5 for 41 since August 1st. A .122 average. A double. A HR and 3 RBI’s. That’s horrible. Last 28 days Altuve hitting .204.
The Astros are in collective slump. It’s happened in year’s past. Hopefully, we’ll see some breakouts soon, but I will say this year seems different from a player excitement perspective. I do think we need a manager change and Cam should have been sent down after we acquired Sanchez. He may have been able to re-work his swing a bit and called back up for the post season even though it would’ve hurt our defense.
So all these stats show our offense pretty much sucks? We’re gonna frick around and lose the division to the Rangers aren’t we?
Astros Players are thinking about the off season and Free Agency. Jeremy Pena and Hunter Brown Free Agency, Scott Boras as their Agent. Astros are going to have a tougher time in keeping players and contending. Astros bullpen is a bunch of add ons, Rookie Deals.
I must admit… I didn’t complain about any of those signings. I complained when the results came in like most did. I think hitters, in today’s game, struggle a bit more to mask a small decrease in bat speed than the hitters of 15+ years ago. Bat speed usually starts to slow in your mid to late 30’s or even earlier for some hitters. Pitchers throw harder with more spin and crazy movement now. All of that in combination with a slight decrease in bat speed can ruin a hitter fast. Especially a non cerebral hitter. obviously there are still good hitters in their mid 30’s but I hope the Astros have learned their lesson there. As far as McCullers goes, that was just poor luck. I thought at the time it was a discount. We all still thought Lance was a TOR type pitcher when he signed and he was also still a baby. The injuries ruined everything. Of course, I know I’m just stating what you and everyone else already knows.
