It’s Amen. But Alpy is showing me a lot this summer. Love what I’ve seen. Hope it carries over into the season.
I have the opposite thinking because Sengun has already shown he can be the no 1 option on a 2nd seed team whereas Amen did most of his damage off cuts and transition scoring.
Put Amen against Shai in a similar situation as Alpi vs Jokic in the Euros and who dominates the matchup? Amen could well be a transcendental superstar in future, currently he's still got some development yet to do. Sengun's there already.
I hope both are future superstars and really don’t care much about all the franchise player arguments. I took exception to you saying Amen’s performance wasn’t even close to Sengun’s, which was obviously hyperbolic. If Sengun plays in the NBA like he is playing in this tournament, he will be a superstar already. He needs to do it in the NBA though and his shooting seriously regressed last year. Amen performed extremely well against SGA last year so I don’t really get your point on that one. They both need to learn to shoot better, let’s hope they do.
Why are we now acting like Alpi's EuroBasket performance is unexpected? Yes there are very noticeable improvements but this is exactly what was expected from Alpi. He was an Allstar last season. This is not like Patty Mills playing like Jordan for Australia and then going back to his bench role in the NBA season. Of course Alpi will play at the same level in the NBA and become an Allstar again. There is zero reason to doubt this.
It's whichever one of Amen or Sengun develops a reliable jumpshot. And if neither of them do then we don't have one. I do think Amen is pretty overrated within the fanbase, he's not a guy that can dominate the league without a jumpshot like Giannis can. His ceiling is pretty low (relatively speaking, obviously he's a great player) if he can't shoot.
Its Steven Adams! He's the glue that brings the team together He's the presence that other teams dread
It’s Alp currently and there really isn’t a debate. Amen can absolutely take that role if he continues to develop. But he is further away from being a superstar than Alp is currently.
We should probably talk about: what IS a franchise player? How many franchise players are in the league? 2? 5? 20? What if we just have a bunch of good starters, and a couple all stars, and that is good?
Amen has long road to be near Sengun.. I understand the hype cause Americans like athletic players alot but Sengun is real player. It was his gravity that this team played play offs and superstars shines and occurs in play offs. Playoffs are where players are laleler and he was stat leader in almost every stats in play offs. Right now, in world basketball from America to Africa to Europe, Sengun is borderline superstar player. Amen has great defense but just great defenders are role players, Rockets brain is Sengun. He dictates and hubs how this offense will flow. Amen will always be Sengun's Robin at best.. Sengun dominated Worlds best player kn defense and offense. Today, Sengun is NBA's top 3 center and he is probable future hall of famer when he retires.. No player in Rockets is close to him.
Amen has no chance to be franchise player.. He is a great defender and role player.. when did defenders become franchise players? He has no offensive arsenal.. Sengun is already worlds 2nd or third gratest center. This discussion is silly and stoopid
