Out of curiosity, do you guys know that new music is being made all the time and is usually released on Friday?
Finding new music in a "singles" and "one off" DIY world is difficult for old-timers who are primarily album-oriented for music that stands the test of time. The fragmented and declining music industry does not help. I appreciate when folks turn me on to new music but get disappointed when the one posted song is the only thing worth listening to in the band's entire oeuvre. Give me an album's worth of good stuff to listen to... I do my best to find new music to enjoy, but find the current evolution and trends in music has strayed from what sounds good to me. I'm long past going to bars or other music venues for new stuff and SXSW has devolved. I favor the stuff that harkens back to my musical heritage. It's like comfort food. That said, I like the stuff you bring to the table and usually give it a listen, so keep posting it and thanks. I've found good stuff here at KEXP:
i have several of their albums, love them. check out his old band "the drones" anywho, i don't listen to singles EVER. i am old and have zero problem finding new stuff- I LIVE FOR IT. do you not read pitchfork or bandcamp or https://open.substack.com/pub/thene...5-insecure?utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=email do you have a streaming service other than youtube??? it is not at all difficult... just a PSA
I hadn't heard of this guy until I found this cover. Apparently he was on The Voice. He's pretty damn talented...
watching an old fight film last night Ray Mancini and Duk Koo Kim the boy from Seoul was hanging in good but the pounding took to him and there in the square he lay alone, without face without crown and the angel that looked upon him she never came down
I can tell you all I know the where to go the what to do you can try to run but you can’t hide from what’s inside of you
Not sure about underrated, perhaps it is now but it’s definitely great. I suspect that part of the reason it was only a one-off was simply because of Layne’s inability to handle multiple projects as he was killing himself. The last AIC album that he was on was good but it felt like he was already gone. I know he lasted another few years but I think it was solely as a final stage junkie, which is incredibly sad. Thanks for the comment.
Loved Nirvana and Pearl Jam and Soundgarden...but AIC was my favorite from back in that time and place I re-listen to their stuff so much more than the others, these days. I guess by "underrated" I meant "underappreciated" or "unnoticed" wrt Mad Season
