These quarrels are rarely resolved until the party selects its nominee for the next election, so there is certainly no reason for Democratic partisans to panic. But these party divides have gone unaddressed for an unusually long time. The lack of even an abbreviated primary campaign after Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the race last year meant that Democrats did not have the opportunity to address their disagreements before Kamala Harris became their nominee. But in the two previous campaigns, their hunger to defeat Trump in 2020 and their obligation to Hillary Clinton in 2016 artificially suppressed progressive uprisings. So it could be argued that the Democratic Party has not confronted its own unresolved issues since 2008. The really sad thing is, Trump and the Democratic Congress sent even bigger checks to "everyone" (everyone in quotes because some of us didn't qualify for checks, we were being taxed to pay for other people's checks). Trump was not some fiscal conservative. Trump and Biden are by far the most profligate spenders in US Presidential history.
