I'm a fiscal conservative but a social liberal for the most part.

    Neither party really fits me.

Even more respect. I was fiscally conservative, but now moderate, also socially liberal for the most part. Apparently, in these parts, I am part of the radical left. As for the parties, well one party is trying to destroy the country, so I guess I’m a Democrat.

More often than not, I regret coming into this part of the forum, there's few facts, everyone has their mind made up and it's just poo slinging and name calling. People can't seem to agree to disagree and be civil about it.

A huge part of the problem is the media on both sides never tells the entire story, it's always slanted from one side or the other.

Being in the middle, I think I can fairly objectively say that the vast majority of the problem lies with MAGA/Trumpers. That group has an active disdain and dismissal of the idea of facts, thereby making it impossible to have any substantive discussion. If you’ve spent a little time here, you’ll know who I’m talking about. This is less about a difference of opinion and more about disregard for facts. Which results in poo flinging and insults. Or for me, ridiculing certain posters for sport because they consistently post nonsense.

    Immigration issue has been solved.

Self deport or be deported, it's really pretty simple.

I notice you did not distinguish illegal from legal
Which is EXACTLY one of the problems with ICE
they aren't making that differentiation either

Charlotte nursing student arrested by ICE in February to go to Honduras

Allison Bustillo Chinchilla, a young nurse from Charlotte currently held at an immigration detention center in Georgia, has been granted relief by an immigration judge that allows her to leave the country voluntarily instead of being deported — a decision that will enable her to return to the United States without facing a 10-year reentry ban.

Allison, 20, has been detained for six months at the Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia. She had nearly given up her legal fight due to health issues and unsanitary conditions at the facility. Then, unexpectedly, she was informed on Tuesday, Aug. 26, that she would have a hearing that same day.

She was arrested on the morning of Feb. 20 at her home in Charlotte while caring for her three younger siblings — the youngest of whom has autism — while her mother was at work.

The chaotic arrest was carried out by ICE agents who forcibly entered the apartment heavily armed, looking for someone else.

    Judge grants Allison’s request

Keily Chinchilla, her mother, watched the hearing on her phone via the Webex platform. She said it lasted about an hour.

“They moved up her hearing with almost no notice. She was desperate and couldn’t take it anymore. The government attorney said she would be removed from the country, but she asked the judge for voluntary departure — the least they could do for her,” Keily told Enlace Latino NC.

Allison said that “ICE shattered her dreams of continuing her education.” The young woman had graduated as a nursing assistant and had earned a $60,000 scholarship to attend Gardner-Webb University.

Half are just keeping a low profile seeing what will happen. Then you have the lower middle class white men that are resentful they don’t have more social pull and view this as their chance to grab the brass ring… these guys are typically very entitled and self important, which is dangerous with an environment telling them it’s okay to dehumanize others.

    Women will be next.

Not for those that follow the constitution, appreciate justice, freedom, and and are anti-authoritarian. Or the actual legal residents and citizens that are also targeted.

This is what happens when the end justifies the means. You end up with crap. I can defend myself against criminals. I can not defend myself against a corrupt government. The constitution is supposed to protect us from this but the GOP and all the dumbasses on this forum don't give a crap about the constitution or the bill of rights.

If we followed the US Constitution and justice mattered- they wouldn't be here and we wouldn't have turned a blind eye to illegal immigration for the better part of 40 years (since 1986).

    This post is such bullshiit.

They aren't bitter because they are entitled, they are bitter due to the opportunity cost of people who will work for a third of their expected wage before you figure in insurance, FICA. unemployment & other cost.

These mid wage people have been displaced by cheap illegal labor for decades. I'd be bitter too. They've been abandoned by their government.

But who's going to pick our fruit, build our houses and clean our toilets ..... the same people that did it before the proliferation of illegal labor - American's.

Oh! Deporting them is going to make everything cost more - yeah right. That's why housing is so affordable now, because home builders are selling at a discount because they saved on labor costs - Bullshiit. They just pocket the savings and sell at market rates. Buyers don't save a dime.
Those same low and middle income people are competing directly with those illegals for housing in mid and low income area's.

You can't just add 30 million people or more into the economy and not expect it to have an effect.
Housing is already a limited commodity and when you add that many people to the demand side, you can only expect one outcome.
The fact that the illegals are generally low wage earners puts them in direct competition with low wage Americans - The most vulnerable Americans.
Until this last month many have been getting section 8 housing assistance - that's at the direct expense to the American tax payer and again, in direct conflict with the low wage American's, you know, those people you are dehumanizing, calling resentful and entitled, all while we have several million American citizens that are homeless.

Sound to me more like wanting to exploit the cheap labor than defending their rights. Being illegal, they don't have the right to be here. That's pretty much impossible to defend.

Their asylum claims are mostly fraudulent - outside of maybe Venezuela and Hati, almost none of them are fleeing persecution of any kind - they are fleeing economic hardship which isn't a legit asylum claim.

Yep, if I was a low wage American, I'd be bitter too, bitter because my government abandoned me for people who have no right to be here.
