I've been rewatching the Alien movies since Alien: Earth came out. Good thing is they're all on Hulu.

    Alien - 8/10
    Aliens - 9/10
    Alien 3 - 6/10
    Alien Resurrection - 4/10
    Prometheus - 8/10

Next will be Alien: Covenant. Alien: Romulus will be new for me.

If they had left David Fincher alone to do Alien3 like he wanted, it would have been an incredible movie.

Prometheus sucked all the suck. But I kinda liked Covenant. Romulus is solid.

I saw Old Yeller when it came out. The line at the now gone Santa Rosa on Telephone Rd. wrapped around the theatre. A heart breaker.

They're both really sad, but I have to go with Old Yeller.

I read it got butchered by too much studio interference, so that's a shame. It was my first time watching it. I saw Alien Resurrection bits and pieces on TV when I was younger.

I actually enjoyed Prometheus. It wasn't much of an Alien movie as it was introducing the Engineers. Other than some stupid plots like Fifield getting lost even though he mapped the area, Millburn being a naive idiot with an alien species, the Prometheus crew opening the hatch for zombie Fifield instead of waiting to see camera footage, and Charlize Theron not knowing how to run sideways, it was pretty good.

    princess diaries 2

not nearly as good as the first. the conflict princess mia goes thru isn't really relatable and not a big deal. like rich ppl problems kinda thing. what made the 1st one good was the whole everyday loser transformation into a proper lady and how it affects her surrounding environment. the second one lost all of that. and the whole "i dun need a man to rule" is @tinman breh woke-approved.

    overall i rate it 13/28

“Fun in Acapulco” starring Elvis Presley

This is a comedy-musical starring The King. It’s basically about E getting rid of his fear of heights after dropping a family member to his death in a high wire act in a circus. So, E decides to take on cliff diving to overcome the tragedy while working as a singer and lifeguard at a resort situated near the cliffs and ocean. The music and watching E perform was funny and cool at the same time. And, of course, E juggled a few ladies throughout.

Overall, for a film made in 1963, I didn’t hate it. But, it felt like everything was filmed in front of a green screen with scenery shots in the background added later. So, you could easily tell authentic shots from fake ones but a common thing back then and even still today but not for shots like they did it for. It would have been an experience to see in theaters with your date. The ladies were probably going wild as E was in his prime. But, they probably wanted E at the end of the night versus their date so they self pleasured instead.

    I give it a C+.

Salt Path - 8/10 - Very cut indie, art house like film with Jason Isaacs and Gillian Anderson (Sex Education, The Crown). Love how his was shot, the intimate focus, starting off with a smaller ratio leading to a boxed experience and at some point switches to regular widescreen. And it’s basically showing them at various points throughout their journey, a famous 650-700 kilometers trip along the southwest coast of the UK, from camping on hills and beached to visiting towns. I won’t spoil why they make the journey and what they have to endure, but I was engaged.

You have to love this type of true to life story as it has little to nothing going for it to entertain you. No bells and whistles. Just some funny encounters, even some dramatic ones, which all felt true to life and were just shown matter-of-factly. They do dramatize a little bit along with a beautiful score and without reading the book - though it’s based on notes made by them on their journey - I like it for what it is. I do think a bit more interaction with friends and family could’ve helped, even if that was not in the book nor happened in real life, but the point is it’s about their journey, their story as a couple and it’s supposed to feel like they’re all alone, kind of not knowing what they’re doing and just using a book (map) to navigate.

It worked for me, even though I’ve seen very harsh criticism of it and critics being very unforgiving. But I don’t give a **** about critics, I thought this was cute, it taught me something and especially because my friend is going through something that also is reflected in the couples’ struggle, it provided me with real life proof of how a person’s mindset, mentality and focus can be liberating and even change the course of one’s life, against all odds. I’m being vague, because again, no spoilers :) There’s some nice (potential) life lessons in here so if you like those type of indie movies where the actors carry the story and it’s really barebones, then this is for you. If you need more, this is not for you.

    Long haul flight.

The Accountant and The Accountant 2. Loved both of them. Funny, action packed, each a bit different. Really enjoyed them. Both 8.5 out of 10.

A Complete Unknown. TC did a great job as Bob Dylan. Story was decent and it was entertaining despite Bob remaining somewhat of a mystery. Ed Norton did a good job as well. 8.5 out of 10.

That's exactly what I meant when I said "leave David Fincher alone"

It was, or would have been, his first movie. 3 years later, his 2nd movie was Se7en.

Alien: Covenant - 8/10. I thought it was really good. I don't remember watching it the first time. Good Alien vibes to it. Great lore about Engineers and the xenomorph evolution.
Alien: Romulus - 8.5/10. Real fun movie. Great side story and good characters. Great horror atmosphere, very modern feel to the original Alien. And the final boss was quite something.

After watching all the movies, it's funny to me how the climax always ends with them conquering the xenomorph that's been the antagonist the whole movie. Only for a surprise final boss to show up.

Never got into this movie. I always felt Scorsese was trying too hard to make Goodfellas II without making Goodfellas II. It almost felt like someone else who just saw Goodfellas was trying to make a Scorsese movie.

I saw Ne Zha 2 at the theater and understand how it hit 2 billion dollars. It's one of the best animated movies I've seen.

I’m not saying either movie is more sad than the other. But a sibling dog dying because their sibling passes may be the saddest notion ever.
