Here are some tidbits about their advanced defense stats, if you believe what they convey. It doesn’t tell the whole story of course, but DFS has been a strong defender (arguably more so than Dillon) in many aspects. I would say that there are a few things (including offense) that DB does better against Big bigs. He has a low center of gravity and is exceptionally strong. You have seen his consistent success in dealing with bigs such as Wemby Offensively DB has more creation flashes. It serves you well when your main guys are out. But he is not efficient and goes out of his lane. So opportunity cost for more efficient offense from other guys (esp when KD is here) is high. I don’t know what is the best stats to back up the team defense side of things but all signs (incredible on/offs, versatility scores - he is much longer, etc, rim protection) are pointing to him being at least as good, if not better, than Dillon Brooks. In this particular team context, I just think DFS fits much better and I would take him over DB any day.
Hs family is very content living in Wisconsin....... Makes me think, he chases a chip elsewhere a few years and returns back like a king........same as Dame.
All I know is, DFS feels more like a MAM (Mbah-A-Moute) that he stays in his lane and doesn’t try to do more than what he’s capable of. Brooks did and it hurt us as well as benefited us. In any case, not high on DFS at all save for his steals potential and being very active that’s more than just Tari blindly going after everything. This goes knows position wise where to be and still get after that, that’s impressive. DB was more of a 1-on-1 defender through physicality and he could move laterally for sure, but he really had in his mind he was stopping guys, which stats show he often was (when it counted the most like vs. Butler). All that tough guy talk and not once did he really get after Butler or Draymond so good riddance.
I still see Capela as a just-in-case move. That is, if or when Giannis says, "Enough." Sengun would have to be our centerpiece. I'm not counting on it happening. One of those "off-chance" sorts of things. But.....just in case.
"DARKO, aka Daily Plus-Minus or DPM, is created by Kostya Medvedovsky. DARKO (stands for “Daily Adjusted and Regressed Kalman Optimized“) is a composite predictive metric that uses box score and plus-minus stats. By blending these components in proportion to the number of total possessions of a player, recent performance is weighted more heavily to better predict future game outcomes. Their DARKO.app updates daily for every player by collecting publicly available data to account for time series and sample size using the complex methods of “exponential decay” and “Kalman filters”. DARKO.app website (web presence developed by Andrew Patton) also offers great data visualization tools. The main difference between DPM and the other player impact metrics is that DPM solely looks “forward” by giving the results in a Bayesian model which projects all elements of the box score. Backwards-looking in GOAT debates are not meaningful with DPM." That apparently. It literally says you can't use it to look back and compare though, so it's more bullshit Morey-fan waffle of using "metrics" (read:made up convoluted bullshit) to try and sound cleverer than everybody else. It's not even a defensive metric either, the person who quoted it probably thought it meant "defensive plus minus" because they never actually looked up the nonsense they were quoting - understanding it is never important, all that matters is you can use it to back your take to somehow lend it credibility. Never forget that all of these "metrics" are estimates and extrapolated guess numbers based on whichever factor the author decides is most important to prove their narrative. They're not statistics.
It would be dumb to trade Sengun for Giannis at this pt. Like SGA for Paul George dumb. First of all, 2 old max contract guys in Giannis and KD would destroy our cap. Maxes for vets go from 50-70M, that would obliterate the cap. Secondly both these guys are old AF. Third, Rox would be left with just Amen when KD retires in like 3 yrs. Fourth, with KD being injury prone there is not even a guarantee we win a ring in those 4 yrs. The reason KD trade was good was we basically used the 10th pick to upgrade from Jalen and DB to KD and DFS. Giannis oth will cost a king's ransom to get I dont think he is worth it cuz nothing will be left to win with him.
Giannis I think will break down. It is a bad investment for a 30 year old. That mostly plays physical.
It's absolutely insane how a single championship distorts narratives around players. It's utterly insane that people think Giannis is some player that's going to propel you to championships. How many times exactly has he blown leads in the playoffs? How many times has he failed in the playoffs with teams purpose built around him? It's hilarious people want to gut this team still for him, even moreso when you stop to actually recognise that he's a player who relies entirely on his athleticism, which will continue to break down from here. Almost as hilarious as some of the takes from Jalen stans.
https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/windhorst-rockets-still-looking-at-giannis.326816/ my sources tell me otherwise
Lol every team looking at him, problem is what it takes to get him would literally make you look like a worse bucks team.. Yea yea too 3 player , maybe at #2 behind Jokic but still. Bucks after the trade just not worth imo and the picks good grief, What's the point. Amen and Giannis would block the paint more, you only need one of those guys and Id run with Amen for cheap and a nice roster you could build up on.
We will definitely be looking at the mid season deadline. I just don't see the price coming down to be worth it.
Jabari Smith, Tari Eason, Phoenix Pick, more picks. Problem is that Giannis doesn't fit the Rockets Spacing, Robotic Shooting won't work.
So giannis is one of my 5 least favorite players ever and i hope the rockets never trade for him, but who would you say are the players who can propel you to championships? Sure, given multiple allstar level guys an sga or a steph can, but on their own they’re irrelevant. Is it literally just Jokic? Certainly nobody on the rockets will come close to Giannis (forget Jokic).
I don’t think the Rockets will have any desire to make a blockbuster trade this year. We will be too good. If we make a trade it will be because Reed didn’t work out and will be for a combo guard. Giannis does not fit this team that is built to compete for a decade. I expect we extend Durant and Tari and let it ride. We will lose Durant and probably one other young core piece just in time for the 27 picks from Phoenix and the Nets to slide into relevance. By 27 Amen will be a top 10 player in the league and Sengun a top 20. Jabari will be an elite role player. I don’t anticipate it, but maybe Reed will also be an elite role player by then. With health we will win the West in the next 2 years, if Ime doesn’t screw it up with his FVV infatuation.
