Prospect Promotion Incentive (PPI). If a top prospect is on the big league roster his entire rookie year and finishes top 3 in the Cy Young or MVP voting in his pre-arbitration years (or wins rookie of the year in his first year), his team receives a 1st round pick.
I think, while certainly not perfect, he has shown improvement in that area this year. I credit that as the main reason his BA has climbed above .300
I've been hoping for this for a while now. Let his arm fall off 1 inning at a time until he's done. If it works then he can rejuvenate his career. If it doesn't, well he sucked as a starter and will still get paid next year anyhow.
PPI status... and 6 years of MLB control of a first round pick is worth quite a bit considering the rate of salary escalation in arbitration.
Would be the first pitcher to win a PPI draft pick! I'm with you, he's a clear 3rd right now with Skubal/Crochet battling for #1 and a bunch behind at #4. Maybe 5 starts left for each guy, he just needs to take care of business to secure the spot.
With Micah Parsons and Luka Doncic dealt... I am now thinking having Adolis popped for roids would make my day.
The Alonso rumor is almost certainly straight up agent mouthpiece speak. Aside from Walker still being owed money, we also have Paredes needing a position and Yordan/Altuve needing to use the DH days. Unless a true blockbuster trade happens there's zero valid reason for Alsono on this team positionally or financially.
My favorite place was Leon's Lounge. Great bar, great bar games, great jukebox,, and at some point Little Joe Washington would show up and take over the piano in the back room. And it was everyting you wanted it to be......
I had this dream that Paredes was available for the playoffs in a limited but very effective capacity, a la Kerry Carpenter last season.
