It's more like the rich leading the rural, dumb, and poor, mix n' match as you please...that's why we have a conman at the helm.

 

It isn't a one time thing - it is saying the same thing for nearly a decade.

I am talking about winning elections, and no it isn't just MAGA people that feel this way.

I would argue that the generalizations are the problem, and the Democratic leadership has to effectively counteract that. The problem is that they haven't.

I disagree with this, enough people can be swayed to win or lose elections and that is showed in the margins of victory - they typically are rather small. There are people, and more than a few that are not going to get or care that the national guard is sent into major cities if they believe it will reduce crime. These same people, see the Democrats screaming "nazi" or destruction of the Republic - and then Trump leaves the city, nothing happens and it erodes credibility for Democrats - Trump knows that, that is why he does it.

I never said the "bad thing" wasn't bad. I am very critical of Trump and his policies and corruption and usurpation of power. What I am saying is that the Democratic leadership is not doing a good job. Democrats can call a spade a spade all day, lord knows I have done it - but it isn't working for the political leaders.

That is great, and may well be true - but saying it over and over again isn't winning elections.

Then it is up to Democratic leadership to adapt and they haven't.

Yes, fear is powerful - and blaming brown people, poor people, women etc. is easy and sadly can work.

The Democrats have done a very good job pointing out that Trump is a POS, there is nothing left to be gained there.

 

Yeah - blinders, I guess.

At some point it will have to saturate.

 

Of course it is --- it is a win win for Trump.

He gets to intimidate his political enemies.

He gets to gaslight the country.

He gets to distract from how inept his administration is at actually leading the country.

Sending in the national guard to DC or Chicago is a lot easier than dealing with the war in Europe, the lack of progress on economic issues and that Trump doesn't know how to get things done when people are not scared of him.

 

Yeah - I see a lot of fools on both sides.

The Democratic leadership and many supporters seem to be separated from the reality of many Americans in 2025.

Many Republican supporters are fools that are under the thumb of a con man that gives no ***** about anything that actually matters.

It is a pretty depressing time right now --- the huckster versus the oblivious, take your pick.

Anyhow I just walked by a military unit (also random guys in masks with guns?)) who are here on order of the President and his reptilian white supremacist hangers on in defiance of long-standing tradition norms etc. This is of course a President who repeatedly refers to himself as a dictator, (when he can make a coherent sentence which is not frequently) and acts the part, anyway his troops are currently occupying a city (as part of a campaign to occupy all cities with people who don't like him because he has declared his political opponents to be vermin and scum and not real Americans

On this.same walk, I noted there were giant Chairman Mao style banners hanging from DOL of the slovenly emperor's face. I walked by a DOJ where insurrectionists & traitors pervert the tools of justice to punish Presidents personal enemies (or extract bribes). I passed the Treasury department (which is running out of money to pay due to looting) and also that apparently now - owns Intel? And USsteel? How did Peronism end again?

Blocks away from where I am - People are being thrown into unmarked vans by random "agents " in masks & shipped off to Uganda.

And - that's just what I saw in the last few minutes. The scale of value destruction is staggering. And it is coming everywhere. For everyone. How do you think it's playing in Iowa? Maybe have a look at the news today to see. Or Ithaca, for that matter.

In other words, wake the **** up

This is the sky , on the ground , after some piece of **** smashed in its car window getting illegally sent to a concentration camp while a bunch of hooting Nazis & pedos tell you they're gonna do a prima nocti on your kids.

Just because you're am old turd at the kitchen table issue selling your nickel analysis hot take doesn't mean everyone else doesn't see what's going on (while we all sit here and pay 50% more for everything) and are - not pleased - to say the least.

I think you are one of the smartest posters here, but man you are still stuck in 2017 CNN punditry mode. Both sides are NOT the same. You can criticize Democrats all you want, but at least due us all the common courtesy of contextualizing and offering specifics.

You do it right here, and in the previous post as well. Just referring to "The Democrats"... When I pressed you earlier, yes you did call out JD Pritzker. That's fine. Call out specific tactics, or responses you do not agree with, but the blanketing "Democrats" both sides argument is tired, and played out man. Come on... you are a smarter than this. You don't need to do the both sides thing to feel like you are somehow enlightened or above it all. WE ALL know you are intelligent, and well balanced.

The Democratic Party currently:

-Has no true leader
-Has NO congressional power
-Has a hostile and partisan Supreme Court against Democracy
-Has voters broken into many coalitions
-Has only two minority leaders in Congress who are legislatures, not vocal leaders of the party, and platform
-Has virtually no media propaganda sphere of influence that can reach so-called "moderate" voters that FoxNews, and social media reaches first, and often

-Has a voting base that sees the writing on the wall that we are going down this road of authoritarianism that we might never be able to recover from in my lifetime.

THAT is the reality here man. Let's please stop sitting here on our high horse acting like there is some big powerful DEMOCRAT PARTY counsel of elders who control all walks of life AND lets stop acting like the threat of Trump/MAGA authoritarianism is something that can just get voted out if only JD Pritzker the governor of Illinois most people don't know about would just do nothing when Trump is activating the god damn military to deploy onto the Chicago streets while the guy really running the show behind Trump refers to Democrats as a DOMESTIC EXTREMIST ORGANIZATION.

I think I have been objective. I have made it very clear that I do not support Trump and believe he is the most harmful President in the last 100 years and most of the damage wont hit a lot of people until years from now. My concern is winning elections, and having leadership that appeals to a larger group of voters. Furthermore all of the things you tabbed accentuate my point. The Democrat leadership is failing and until it gets better, there will be grave concerns.
