Was flying from Texas to New York two days ago. Decided to watch The Thunderbolts. I was pleasantly surprised.
It's been 2 years since my dog crossed over, so I had been avoiding any movie with a dog as lead or supporting actor until now.. Good Boy. 8.7/10. (2025) Horror movie from a dog's pov. It's so good. very unique. Although Cat's Eyes was kind of like that.
The Incident (1967), streaming on TCM. Beau Bridges, Martin Sheen, Ruby Dee, Ed McMahon in a small, dramatic role. Two young thugs hopped up on goofballs take over a subway car. 8/10
Weapons (2025) Mystery Horror film. Told in chapters from PoV of different leading characters until full story is unfold. Movie had good build up. The final ending was also fine, wasn't disappointed. Super positive review from critics and anecdotally from people, who saw it. I didn't love it like they did, but hard to point out any major weaknesses. Grade: a solid A-
I would be able to watch it if I read a spoiler that said the dog survived. But otherwise, I hear you. I am still scarred by seeing Old Yeller within a few years of the family dog expiring, LOL.
I think he meant “how” in the sense that the movie hasn’t been released yet. It premiered at SXSW, but release is scheduled for Oct 3rd
I was kind of surprised how much I didn't like "The Naked Gun". I really wanted to like it. Liam tried his tough guy stuff in comedy but it wasn't nearly as effective as Leslie Nielsen's delivery. I enjoyed Pamela some but mainly her Jazz riffing scene. But, I just didn't laugh like I wanted to. I felt it was only slightly amusing at times and dragged for such a short film runtime. I thought it could have been better. I think the material wasn't great and it reflected on the actors and what they could do with it. Not nearly the same effect as the original films in any way imo. Even the ending where everyone broke out in violence was done poorly imo. I dunno. I just wanted to laugh a lot. @#$% I'll give it a C- I guess. Didn't work for me but obviously did for others. Script and dialogue weren't that great.
I got through about 45 minutes of that Ice Cube War of the Worlds. It wasn't even comically-bad. It was truly unwatchable-bad. Just the absolute biggest heap of lard ever produced. I'll just rewatch Band of Brothers or The Wire for the 18th time cuz everything sucks.
A friend in the industry was sent a copy. She actually worked as a Rockets photog back in 2014(my Horry thread). I Got to see both endings. Don't know which one they will use, both are very satisfying for dog owners.
A few things did not make sense within the context of the plot and also stylistic nature of the movie. I like it though and would recommend it for sure.
Green Border - 8.3 out of 10. About the days before Putin's special 10 day operation and how on the border of Belerus and Poland is not where you want to be. This 2:32 hour film was written in 2 months and shot in 14 days. Which shows how much of a master Agnis Holland is.
Companion - 7.5 out of 10 Dark comedy with a predictable storyline but entertaining still. Go in with low expectations and come out entertained.
I don't think it was really that predictable, honestly, but at the same time I think it wasn't necessarily executed that good. I do think it was a fun movie at the end for sure. I liked Orphan: first kill better. Which is somewhat of a similar movie.
I watched Casino for the first time because HBO Max immediately started streaming it after I watched The Big Lebowski (7/10). I didn't enjoy the marital woes between Stone and DeNiro at all. Total downer. I didn't really like the heavy narration with DeNiro and Pesci...until the end. I won't spoil it, but something happens suddenly on screen and in the narration and it made my laugh really hard. I rewound it like five times. Never expected it. Without it, I would have given the movie a 5 out of 10, but that moment bumps it to a 7 out of 10.
