Trump does believe he has the right to do anything he wants to do. We know he always felt himself above the law because of his social status and entitlements, but In his mind, even as President he doesn't believe he needs the approval of Congress or the Senate anymore. He just declares every situation a national emergency and makes an Executive Order to carry on with his agenda.

Tell that to the African American mothers who have to attend funerals every weekend. Roughly 500 shootings a year -- a staggering figure. It could all end with the right protections for these communities. Trump is seeking to stop the violence and murders and restore the city of Chicago to its previous greatness. Right now businesses and the wealthy are fleeing the city, due to high crime, high taxes and a looming fiscal crisis. Horrible Democratic leadership has put Chicago in this position.

this whole charade from Trump is such a joke…I doubt his militia of little minions will be spending time in Austin or Garfield Park

the fear mongering is so pathetic atp…it’s amazing people actually fall for this sh*t

the party of “masculinity and toughness” yet they are deathly afraid of major cities

the way they talk about Chicago, you’d swear the entire place is a battlefield and the minute you hop off the plane you’ve entered Baghdad or Iraq

meanwhile Houston has a higher violent crime rate than Chicago, but if somebody tried to describe Houston to me as a “killing field” or some place where everybody is getting mugged, raped, shot, etc, I’d laugh in their face

By some of the comments by MAGA folks on here it's obvious they are falling for Trump's exaggerated emergency crime escalation and emergency threat there, as they support and cheer on another National Emergency excuse by the pathological liar himself, for sending in troops.

Thanks for the real time on the scene situation report, letting us know that it's all political theater. :)

I think the question must be asked, "Why are liberals so upset about a reduction in crime?"

The answer is because it PROVES that crime can be reduced, but Democratic politicians just. won't. do. it. EXACTLY the same as the border security issue. Democrats could have easily secured the border -- but they chose not to. Trump did it within DAYS of taking office. Is the common denominator here voters? Democrats don't want to put their own voters in jail/prison... so they just allow urban crime to occur? That's the only thing I can come up with... unless they are in a state of denial and think their cities are safe (they are clearly not safe).

Sure, if you flood the zone with law enforcement...you can reduce crime. A million dollars a day extra? Not sustainable. Also, people will get tired of the oppressive presence, as it will start to infringe on freedoms. You remember "land of the free..."?

It's easy to reduce crime when you kill all traffic in the city. Restaurant bookings are down double digits, nobody is going to bars, street vendors are dead. Whats the opportunity cost of the deployment? How much is the city losing in tax revenue? MAGATs don't wanna answer these questions cuz their entire narrative falls apart.

What's difficult is to reduce crime yet still have businesses thriving which was already happening before

What do you think Trump and Hegseth would do if a mob of hundreds of people in DC, Chicago, New York, or Baltimore started storming police barricades, and brutally punching, kicking, and assaulting police officers with poles, tasers, their fists, bear spray, and tear gas?

I highly doubt Trump would get on TV and say "I know your pain, I know you're hurt, but you have to go home now, we have to have peace. We have to have law and order, we have to respect our great people in law and order."

That's what he said to the people who assaulted 140 police officers at the Capitol on Jan 6th.

Democrats are out there saying there's no need for crime reduction in big cities... but the American public thinks that's very wrong. Once again, Trump forces the liberals to publicly take on the 20% side of an 80/20 issue... and in so doing, the Democrats look increasingly out of touch with reality. Trump is outfoxing the Democrats at every turn... and winning the culture war. America is healing.

Handling crime a strength for Trump as many in US see a ‘major problem’ in big cities: AP-NORC poll

WASHINGTON (AP) — As armed National Guard troops patrol the nation’s capital as part of an unprecedented federal takeover of Washington’s police department, handling crime is now a relative strength for President Donald Trump, according to the latest AP-NORC poll.

Americans are generally not happy about the Republican president’s handling of issues like immigration and the economy but are more positive about his tough-on-crime approach, according to the survey from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

Indeed, the vast majority of Americans, 81%, see crime as a “major problem” in large cities — a concern Trump has seized on as he has deployed the National Guard to the District of Columbia and threatened to expand that model to cities across the country. And his overall approval rating has increased slightly, from 40% in July to 45% now.

He didn't send troops to Republican states that have way higher violent crime rates. Look at cities in Alabama, Michigan, and Tennessee. Even Houston has more violent crime than DC.

Everyone knows this isn't about fighting crime. It is about the POTUS going after Americans he doesn't like. You support this because you know the Administration is wildly unpopular. You want the military used against Americans to keep your side in power.

The crime is committed in urban areas that are almost 100% ruled by Democrat politicians. Harris County (Houston) is a great example. Democrat policies just don't work. And I think Democrats are scared that Trump is going to demonstrate this in a way no one ever has.

Ooops. Another Democrat blaming someone else for the problems they created. @Amiga still thinks he is a good-faith poster.

It is looking like a lot of them are now just going home.....according to the vets doing the sit in.....they gave them info on how to fight an unlawful order.

Would be interesting if the Nat guard just flat out refused to follow a BS emergency order.
