Is this the guy who kept screwing up on special teams last year (and basically got in a fight with Frank Ross)?
From ESPN a compilation so far... Here's a better link from Texans site... https://www.houstontexans.com/news/houston-texans-transactions-08-26-2025
only 2 TEs? No prob. Line up Justin Watson at TE and have him speed by linebacker and safety help. The only interesting TE released so far is Greg Dulcich. Who has still been recovering from injuries
Yeah, I imagine they'll bring Bryant back. It would be strange with only 2 TEs. Also they have 5 RBs and 7 WRs, perhaps Nick is looking to trade someone in each group.
2 TE's is a bold move from an OC whose specialty is supposed to be TEs (TWSS) Mostly PS types, but here are some cut players I would be interested in bringing in (or bringing back): QB Hendon Hookder (DET) PS prolly not with Mertz RB Israel Abanikanda (GB) PS RB Pierre Strong Jr. (CLE) I think WR Watson might get moved in a trade. TE Harrison Bryant TE Jelani Woods (IND) PS OT Trent Brown (PS) OT Logan Brown (MN) PS G Sidy Sow (NEP) PS? C Eli Cox (PS) Edge Andre Carter II (LV) PS DE Casey Toohill (PS) LB/S Isaiah Simmons (GB) LB Nick Niemann (PS) LB Chad Muma (JAX) PS CB JuJu Brents (IND) PS CB Robert Rochell (DAL) CB Miles Battle (NEP) PS DB Myles Bryant (PS)
We have an awful draft history for the TE position and only keeping 2 translates our poor hit rate for the position as well. It boggles my mind that they just cannot seem to figure out the position in free agency or in the draft. 2025 - Luke Lachey (7th round) 2024 - Cade Stover (4th round) 2022 - Teagan Quitoriano (5th round) 2021 - Brevin Jordan (5th round) 2019 - Kahale Warring (3rd round) 2018 - Jordan Akins (3rd round) 2014 - CJ Fiedorowicz (3rd round) 2013 - Ryan Griffin (6th round) 2010 - Garrett Graham (4th round) 2009 - Anthony Hill (4th round), James Casey (5th round) 2006 - Owen Daniels (4th round) 2003 - Bennie Joppru (2nd round) Appears 2006 was the one time we hit on the position correctly.
Interesting... 3 (of 12) players I thought would be good additions to PS were claimed by other teams (Muma, Brents, Woods) Texans Practice Squad so far (per CBS) Texans EDGE Solomon Byrd OT Jaylon Thomas DT Haggai Ndubuisi (IPP) CB Damon Arnette Jr. LB K.C. Ossai OT Trent Brown IOL Eli Cox WR Jared Wayne FB Jakob Johnson TE Harrison Bryant CB Myles Bryant DT Junior Tafuna WR Jawhar Jordan
Casey carved out a decent career & became a coach Fido was snake-bit re: concussions, but was serviceable when available + Griffin when he wasn't punching windows
Damn, forgot about Griffins window smash. Lol Also didn't see and forgot about Casey. We still haven't had an H back of his caliber since. Casey would do fantastic in a Caley style offense.
I know this is unfair, but damn. Imagine if the Texans had made decent O-line choices in the 3rd-5th round in these 5 years instead of whiffing on TEs.
Precisely my point. We do need to draft TEs, but we seem to chase projects and midround ones at that. At some point we need to play the numbers game with OL and/or we actually need to invest a higher round pick into the position. I'm surprised more aren't upset with this position on our roster when you consider how vital it has been to other teams from Kelce to Bowers to Kittle to La Porta, etc. Just consider how many other teams' TE2 or TE3 would be our clear cut starter and we seem unable to really find one. Maybe Schultz is ok and Owen Daniels was a pro bowler, but we've swung and missed embarrassingly relative to the rest of the league.
I heard John Harris saying they most likely roll with 2 and 6 Oline men. Which I think I prefer as Shultz is not much of a blocker. Pull in an additional eligible lineman when needed.
Think they are working on Watson for Dugger? Just trying to figure out how much of the salary Pats play?
