I like Caratini as much as the next guy, but with him batting 7th instead of 4th, our lineup just looks so much healthier.

It would be like an NBA player winning an MVP despite shooting under .400 for the season. It won't happen.

It’s not like that at all. Also, I believe Iverson almost did that.

what if he hits .240 with an on base % of .360?

    Slow Joe.
Urias should be at 2B. Dubon in CF.

Also, let us hope that Diaz doesn’t have a fractured wrist.

zero shot. He would have to be the best player, on the best team, with an all-time record broken and be leaps and bounds in front of the next guy in HRs and RBIs.

I'm talking 65 HRs, 162 RBIs and a team record of 105 wins to lead the league. Next guy up has 40 HRs and 110 RBIs.

Not to mention, the guy can't be on pace to have about 180-200 ks on the season. That is stupid for an MVP type player.

Sucks we still have to play Dubon every game. Not a knock on him either

Urias should always play 2nd base over Dubon. Joe is just dumb.

Dubon is a better defensive 2B, and Dubon isn't that much worse of a bat than Urias. Dubon should not be a better option than others in CF very often, Until Meyers comes back, he might sadly be the best option out there often for the Astros. With Brown on the mound, I have little issue putting the best defensive 2B* on the team out there at 2B.

*excluding starters at SS and 3B.

If this was 1991, I would agree.

lots of players have batted .300 and still had crappy on base % and/or OPS. It’s a limited stat. On base % is more valuable.

It’s almost impossible to believe that this needs to be pointed out in 2025.

I agree, BA is not the tell all stat, but without it it spells volumes. I look at overall numbers for MVP and batting average stands out. .275+ is respectible but under .250 tells me that he's not an all-around player and has holes in his game.

.300 avg, 45 HRs, 120 RBIs with 100 ks beats out .249, 58 HRs, 135 RBIs and 180 ks every time to me.

Regardless, point is Raleigh is not an MVP

In all fairness, Dusty had a point that walks have less potential in advancing/scoring runners than a well placed bloop hit.
