Since July 11: Cam Smith .128 BA .375 OPS That bat cannot be in the lineup for the foreseeable future.
Wait did I miss something. Isn't Joe the manager? The person ultimately responsible for correcting flaws in our approach?
Really shitty loss to end as frustrating a series as you can have while going 3-1. oh well, just have to go sweep Colorado and take 3/4 from Anaheim
The strategy to focus on the hitters and not controlling the run game has come from our pitching coaches. I guess you can argue Joe is responsible for his staff
It’s baseball, they’re no pictures in the box score. He performed a whole hell of a lot better then Framber and Javier so with proper lowered expectations we should be good with it.
Nah a really shitty loss would have been Arrighetti getting blown up like it appeared would happen after that first inning. I'm not going to cry about the team not hitting a guy that no one has hit. And we still have two innings to score hopefully against their bullpen unless they send Rogers back out to run his count up.
Agreed this one is gonna suck. Countless times we seemed to be getting to Rogers. Arrighetti giving up a run after 2 outs and no one on base. Let's figure out how to get a couple of runs off a truly terrible bullpen.
That's fair but our pitching coaches are also extremely highly regarded...I'm not sure I want Joe telling them what to do. Changes definitely need to be made though. I think the strategy was fine back before the new rules when teams weren't running as much but it's getting ridiculous
Dana made a comment after the first 45 or so days that the one thing he wanted to see fixed was controlling the running game, he’s not said a word about it since, or at least not that I’ve seen so take that as you will.
He did ok, but he got rocked, just got lucky the ball went AT someone. We aren't fooling anyone these days other than Alexander and Brown. DD
