They don’t trust their stuff coming off injuries. Agree on Javier and Garcia to a lesser extent- pound the damn zone and make them prove they can hit it. If someone like Jason Alexander can do it, then no excuse for most of these other guys not to.
Did you watch the Doug Jones hometown video I posted up there somewhere earlier? Jones is a very sharp guy and can explain how pitchers make hitters not hit, better than most anyone I've heard.
There isn’t a lot they can do about it when it’s almost September - but someone or someone’s isn’t doing their job well enough. The Astros positioning has gone from top in baseball to bottom third. It has cost the Astros a lot of runs. Multiple pitchers have been clearly unhappy about it. The Astros have been terrible, maybe the worst in baseball at limiting the other teams running game this season - and the Astros base running has been bad. This is a coaching issue and possibly a culture issue and really needs to be addressed and changed this Winter.
Ohh I’ll have to check it out. Yes Doug is very bright and along with Dave Smith, probably my favorite closer… Guy never got his pulse over like 75
...and the other 3 starters? Reminds me of the 98 Padres series. We couldn't beat Kevin Brown, they beat Randy Johnson. We beat Andy Ashby(?) but got shut down by Sterling f*ing Hitchcock
I still think there is time for Javier and Arrighetti to get their crap together. I was worried about taxing Javiers health today with the high pitch count in first two innings. He just didn’t have his FB release point. Hopefully we get a batter outing next time. Really can’t be worse short of an injury
Old school baseball still has a place and a time, I know "chicks don't dig the smallball": SB, bunt, slap a grounder to the right side, sac fly, etc....anything to score a run when you need "a run"
Mariners broadcaster said he hangs it and he bangs it. Right now 2.75 game ahead of the can't buy a division team.
