This thread is a reminder that it's easier for casuals to see quantity than it is for them to see quality.

Stats culture. People stopped watching the games so they just pull up stats and wonder why Cam Thomas hasnt been maxed yet.

I appreciate your candor. Personally this is exactly what I feared, but I will acknowledge there’s still time. Dudebro had a rough go his rookie season but most do and turn into good players… His contract options start next season though, if he doesn’t get it together quick you can pretty much guarantee he’s getting traded either at the deadline or around the next draft.

I think the thing that’s got my goat about Reed is how he was a deadeye shooter until he put on a Rockets uniform. Last white kid I saw chucking that many bricks was McCauley Caulkin in Home Alone 2.

Stats are nothing more than an objective representation of what is actually happening. Casuals hate stats because they expose the fact that they don't know what is going on when they watch the game.

Stats culture made Jalen Green look decent. If Jalen had actually scored his averages in every game, we would've won more than 55 games and beaten the Warriors.

No, it didn't, it made him look like ****. Maybe you just don't know how to read them.

Stats always said Jalen was dogshit, it was the casuals who thought he was worth a **** because they saw the quantity if points scored and assumed that meant he was good.

The better understanding of stats is why more and more people have turned on low efficiency chuckers who hurt their teams.

If Jalen normally produced his averages we wouldve won more games. His averages were skewed by a game where he'd score 38 and another two where he'd score 11 and 13. So he sucks for 2 games but it looks like he's serviceable in 3. If he was actually serviceable in 3, we likely win those 3. Instead we'd win one, lose one and it was 50/50 on the other one (usually depended on whether or not Fred could bail us out or not).

Hence why his numbers lie. They arent amazing. Theyre just actually worse than what they seem to be.

Like I said, you don't seem to understand how to read stats, you just see the raw numbers, the quantity, and that's the end of it. If you knew how to look a them, you'd realize that his efficiency numbers were always dogshit, and they didn't "lie", they spelled out EXACTLY the player he was from day 1.

I just want fair and objective assessment for Reed if he shoots amazing then glaze him all you want but then if he sucks say it too dont make all these excuses or selectively view data just to make him look good.

Bobby's post above is a good example hating on Jalen Green's efficiency when his boy Reed was even more inefficient than Jalen ever was. 46.5% TS bro Jalen's worst was 53.8%.

If Reed's TS% doesn't improve to be better than Jalen's these past 4 years, Reed will be an inefficient scorer as well. I expect Reed will either improve, or I will start doubting Reed's ability to become efficient like I did in Green early in year three.

Jabari was supposed to be KD from deep coming out of college too. I think it's a Rockets thing, we ruin shooters somehow haha. ****, Jalen was "future best scorer in the league" by pretty much every pundit coming into his draft. We've had 2 supposedly "generational" shooters at their position in college come to us and be scrubs whenever they shot the ball.

I know you're new to basketball and not terribly good at math.... but once you follow sports for longer, or take a basic high school level statistics course, you'll realize there's a thing with using small samples.

He got dicked around by Ime early in his rookie season and it took g league coaches less than one game to fix what Ime broke leading to a strong finish to the season by Sheppard.

As a result, there's not much that can be taken away from the rookie season numbers. For sure though if he gets legitimate minutes and his TS% isn't higher this time next year, there won't be anyone clinging to his balls the way you were doing with your favorite draft bust Jalen.

You embarrassed yourself for 4 years down on your knees for Jalen, at least give this kid a full season of playtime.

It is weird though how shooters seem to come here and then just lose their abilities completely.

You're talking about small sample sizes but Reed's 3 starts means he already got "fixed"? lol So Reed's 42 games of bad play are just low samples but his even fewer good games shows who he really is. See this type of bias is what I'm talking about.

You're the one down on your knees for Reed, every single high standard you were applying to Jalen you threw away for Reed Sheppard. Blaming Ime Udoka, the dude who coached this team to a 2nd seed just shows how biased you really are. How come Amen had a great rookie season under Udoka? Crazy how Udoka didnt "dick him around" and he still had great nos.

Imagine being dumb enough to respond to a post that says

    With what you just said.

Let's also not forget that you are the guy who said that Reed Sheppard had bad shot mechanics....because you don't know what good shot mechanics look like.

Run along kid, the street lights are on.

Reed would still be a nobody in Jokic presence. Not even Harden could make Reed a rotational player
