Dang, I think I have found my mirror image in thinking about KD.

The only difference, I don't really care that much about him, he shall play out some of his remaining years here.

People here have not watched a superstar in years I think outside of Harden, and I cannot say I blame them for simping.

I do think Udoka and Durant are a potent combination, one is an overachieving coach plagued by a secks scandal and the other an overachieving 7 footer of a shooter but who used to crumble as the 1st option.

If Durant stays relatively healthy, we very well might be better than OKC. Both Amen and Sengun are going to take another leap this year and I expect Jabari to improve a bit as well.

Lmao....I don't know what that Snake gave you all to drink but that stuff is strong.

OKC won without Durant.......I am pretty sure that is what moved Durant to join the young Rockets because he wanted the same shet .....too bad that he was not on the original Thunder team that won with the young core.

Just another Copy Cat. He is not original. He joined the GSW because he is not original. Followed Lerbon's Superfriend model.
Thunder made history and Durant is no part of it. I bet that stung a little for the Cupcake.

I can totally understand the Durant hate. I don't like him either. I wasn't enthusiastic about acquiring him.

But making up all these weird arguments to say that he's not going to make us better is just blind hatred.

People were crying about not having enough good shooting on the team. Now we got one of the best shooters in the league in exchange of a below average shooter, and you actually believe that it won't make us better if he's healthy? That's just messed up reasoning.

we were #2 seed and fighting in the playoffs primarily because of Alpi, Amen, and FVV. Then we add KD. 3 pts shots of JG and DB going to Jabari now.

I like how you put the barometer as KD is unsuccessful if he doesn't net us being better than the defending champs.

What’s so funny? Why don’t you just leave the board if you’re that down on the Rockets. They were a second seed last year and replaced Jalen Green with Kevin Durant. What a jerk!

Assuming he doesn’t torpedo us with off the court drama.

Sometimes old age rears its ugly side. Not much more I can do, but admit my mistake.

Did I do that or was I just responding to someone alluding to that. Dont gaslight me fool Im not new. I said we should make WCFs then someone else chimed in and upped the anty and I responded. I was being sarcastic BTW. Someone stil replied to me that KD makes us win a chip. Read before you reply. I said KD is overrated and you guys prove my point with every post and get mad at me for it lol Not only is he overratted but you guys also have built in excuses for him already ready in the wings to blame the rest of the team when he fails. Ive seen this playbook before. Thats why I dont like him or Lebron.

I’ve never seen Durant dog it on the court and fans don’t have any idea who has been at fault in the locker room. I get that people were pissed that he went to GS to get his rings, but wanting to win is not a sin in my book. If you want to be mad about us loosing to them boycott the NBA. It wasn’t Durant’s fault that the fix was in. He chose us, because he wants to win. Phoenix would’ve much preferred the Wolves package.

The issue with many fans when it comes to judging players is that it's never the same standard. I mean even conservatively, KD will go down in NBA history as a top-50 player of all time. Other than Hakeem, Moses, and maybe Pippen, you can easily say he's more accomplished than any other player who has donned a Rockets uniform for any significantly length in time. So if he's a failure, he's a failure in comparison the Hakeems, Kobes of the world when it comes to career achievements. But he's still better than everyone else.

Last year he was objectively a better a player than anyone who played on the Rockets. So even if you think he sucks now, well, what does that say for every other Rocket who wasn't even able to outperform a guy who's a total loser and no longer good?

Really it's fine to hate on any player you want. But hating on someone and saying he isn't good or he's a loser are totally different things.

The Rockets made the second seed and the playoffs and KD didnt. You are looking too mch at individual stats and fail to see how he plays with a team and how he affects that team truly. Luka with Kyrie makes the finals Luka with Lebron cant get out of the first round but I bet you will have countless stats saying lebron is better right now than Kyrie. Kyrie couldnt get out of the first rd with KD. You guys are missing the damn point. Theres more to ball than his shooting percentage. Thats why guys like KD nad Bron are overrated. great stats but they need super teams to win a chip. I put harden in that same boat but he never got to join a super team in his prime so he doesnt have a ring.

    100% this.

The question is not whether you think Durant is the star we all wanted - I agree with the naysayers that he's clearly not - we still need to be looking for that long term guy....but he IS a clear upgrade offensively AND defensively over Jalen Green and we were a 2 seed with that guy. I'll miss Brooks too but continued growth of Amen and Tari likely offsets his loss and the picks were going to do little in the short term to help us.

I do think it's possible we don't win that many more games than last year because we will optimistically get only 60 games out of Durant BUT as long as Durant is healthy during our playoff run, we have a FAR higher ceiling there AND having an all time guy like Durant on the roster makes it harder for teams to stack up on guys like Alpi or Amen and probably provides cleaner looks for Jabari which should help their growth a bit as well as their value as potential trade chips.

    - also, a guy like Durant showing our young guys a thing or two is of some value to their development as well.

From what I recall, his "off the court drama" only torpedoed the Nets and the last month of the Suns season. The Nets drama was actually started by Kyrie and Durant had to choose between Kyrie and Harden. The suns situation was toxic and he still did pretty well on court most of the season.

I don't like his personality and how he likes to say passive aggressive things on social media. But his off court stuff doesn't seem to affect much how he plays. I can't think of anybody on our team that will create animosity against Durant.

My hope is that he will do relatively well in the two years with us, maybe even help us win a chip, then ride off to the sunset and make room for our young guys.

Assuming improvement from the young core, I don't see us winning significantly less. It is more likely we win more but there's no guarantee. Last season was an overachievement than the real strength.

There's an X-factor: Reed Sheppard. How well he plays at the early part of the season will make a big difference. I think they are going to give him a chance to be a worthy rotation player for maybe a couple of months. If he doesn't do well, we may lose more games than we project simply because we want to take a good look at him. If he continue to struggle, I believe Stone will look to acquire some veteran guard help. But if Reed does well from the start, we can be challenging OKC's dominance.
