Yeah, I'm pretty sure the tadpole was just the embryo of the xenomorph that gets implanted by the face huggers. I'm not sure how the android figured that out so quickly and was able to basically bypass the facehugger part of their reproduction cycle, but I'm all for it if it moves things along. Haven't seen any speculation in here on what is going on with Wendy and her connection to the foreign creatures. My wife and I were discussing last night. She thinks that the xenomorphs communicate with each other telepathically somehow, or on some frequency that we can't hear or detect, but that she can. They do seem to be pretty intelligent but only vocally make hissing/screaming sounds, so that might make sense. But this seems to be a critical part of this season, so I'm curious where they go with it. I really like the Shelly Duval comparison for the redhead Lost Boy. She's losing it fast. I'm guessing she will be the one that somehow allows containment to be breached and we get further alien shennanigans within the compound. Or it could be Wendy. We'll see. But for those complaining about the boy genius. You're absolutely supposed to hate that dude. The actor is doing a good job with it. And he will get his comeuppance. Those emotionless evil corporate characters always do in these movies/shows. Just be patient.
Looking good so far. I'm going to forego spoiler tags since almost everyone else isn't bothering: There's one plot hole/writing error: The two technicians on the ship in episode one were originally discussing the corporations and the older tech tells the younger tech about Prodigy. Fast forward to episode 3 and Morrow, the surviving security chief/cyborg, asks Yutani what Prodigy is. It doesn't make sense, and if they were establishing corporations in that episode 1 conversation, they messed up by mentioning Prodigy. I actually had the same thought about Nibs (redhead hybrid) looking like Shelly Duval when I was watching ep 3, and told my wife 'she gonna die'. I don't understand how the Alien eggs ended up outside of the lab in the crashed ship. I'm probably not the only person to think there was a queen there but nope, only the uber-alien who wrecked shop. I wonder if the Alien moved the eggs to a better location to catch prey. It's the only thing that makes sense. The eggs only slowly opening around Boy Kavalier was sort of dumb, though. We've seen them rapidly pop open in the movies. Maybe it's a function of detecting stress, and Boy Kavalier is a psycho. Not sure about Boy Kavalier dying or becoming a synth. One might lead to the other but it was established in ep1 that only kids could be come synths, and Boy's statements about unlimited imagination of children reinforced that. But who knows, it might work to some degree, because his name is Boy. There was also that propaganda voice in the background of Morrow's walk though the city scene saying 'Prodigy is forever' which may be foreshadowing/hinting at Boy Kavalier becoming a hybrid. Re: Face-Huggers: Kirsh finding the Alien tadpole isn't really a reach, and makes total sense. The Facehugger's role is to impregnate and incapacitate it's victim so the Alien tadpole has a chance to do it's thing. I'm more curious about what genetics the meat host has. Is it human or something else? Aliens borrow from their host's genetics to produce xenomorphs that can survive in the particular world they are on. The meat host could be a pig or even a t-rex for all we know. But probably human. Wendy's psychic connection: Not sure what's going on here and why. She's already shown 'powers' when she 'rewrote' the code to talk to her brother at the company kiosk in episode 2. There's some metaphysical stuff going on that we need some answers on. I feel pretty confident about the writing (except the error I noted) so far. Morrow: good foil, plot device and unstoppable 'Terminator' to keep the action moving. I like how he infiltrated and can talk to Slightly. These poor little kids. Interested to see what Joe Hermit is going to look like after his surgery. How cyborg is he going to end up?
I don’t know why we’re always quick to assume plot holes. I just thought Morrow wanted more detail about them, and what his boss thought of them. —————————- My big question is: Morrow told Yutani that they were sabotaged. Anyone guessing who and why that happened? Seems there was only one tech not in stasis for the final leg of the flight, tending to the lab. Or was the pissy Asian engineer not in stasis, as well? I can’t recall.
So you’re saying Morrow said who is Prodigy, not who is Prodigy. Interesting. Totally missed the sabotage part. Didn’t the synthetic in Alien 1 do the same thing so the crew would get impregnated? May need a rewatch of key movies and the first few episodes not.
He posted another (shorter) video about the first two episodes without these other clowns that is mostly on the mark IMO. To summarize, he likes some stuff a lot, hates some other stuff and, overall, is pessimistic about the show's prospects. This is also my view. Where I differ from him and other critics (both positive and negative) is it's just too early to reach a conclusion. Clearly it has stumbled a bit so far, but there is potential if a few things are weeded out and we get clarity on where things are headed. I wouldn't be shocked if it starts hitting stride ~ ep 5 or 6. That would give harsh critics two more weeks to blast away. You gotta have some patience, but that doesn't get clicks on YT.
They laid it out at the beginning, but for future reference: Cyborg: Morrow Synthetic: Olyphant Kids: What are they called?
...and if anyone's wondering about the timeline: Prometheus: (2093) Alien: Covenant: (2104) Alien: Earth: (2120) Alien: (2122) Alien: Romulus: (2142) Aliens: (2179) Alien 3: (2179)
It's not perfect but it is entertaining so far. The Drinker makes his clicks on being an entertaining d*ck. Sometimes its amusing. . . .in a Mystery Theater 3000 kind of way But He is often IMO less than authentic . ..chasing likes and piling on The other guys . . .i cannot say I've listened to their individual podcast but they seem far more boring and whiny in their criticism . ..
