I would much rather it was A.J. I think we all do. However we all need to accept that McCullers must be on the 26 man roster if he is healthy. G.M.s get fined for manipulating this system and the MLBPA file grievances. And furthermore there is no world where the Astros are putting him in the bullpen so its not a question of Lance OR A.J. It's a question of just Lance, or both.
There absolutely is a world where Lance goes to the pen I've been as big of a Lance supporter as anyone on here, in fact if we listed those who support him i'd probably be at the top (of an admittedly short list) But If he comes out this week and throws another stinker then 100% they could move him to the pen Now yes, obviously if he is healthy and the team is manipulating the roster to keep him off of it, that could cause problems. BUT if they truly think he has no chance of helping they could just DFA him and move on, they are paying that salary one way or another It's not like we have quality pitching knocking down the door right now, but if Lance gets ripped again this weekend and Brown/Miller/Espada don't move him to the pen then MLB isn't the one who should be firing the GM (or anyone else), Crane is
If he throws a stinker due to command... how is that getting better in the bullpen? (in addition to the fact that he's never done it before)
