Texas Redistricting is specifically to horde as many minorities into the same disricts so there are more "white majority" districts they think favors them. It will work for a decade or 2, until Minorities as a whole, become the majority. That is their fear. Fear white people will be treated the same way minorities have been treated since the country was founded. This was predicted atleast decades to go. Obama triggered a FEAR of loss of control among Conservatives/Republicans. They have been on a mission ever since to stop it. The whole immigration push is part of it. What they don't understand, it is just a matter of time. They missed their window to stop demographic change between 1950 and 1990.

Gerrymandering has been used by Republicans to offset less and less people for decades. Houston area has one of worst Gerrymandered Districts in the country to make a republican district. The democrats have countered in other states to keep balance. They are guilty of it too, but not to the extreme Republicans have done it. If the Supreme Court hadn’t gutted the Voting Rights Act, this wouldn’t be happening. Reagan wanted amnesty in the 80s, but Republicans resisted because they know the future is not on their side…even back then. As for voting for Trump, there is a sucker born every minute.
