Reminds me of when Morey flat out declared LeBron the unquestionable GOAT "based on the numbers" and yet here he is still not close to Mike's legacy lol.

Morey came out and said James Harden is a better scorer than Jordan based on the “data” doing nothing but inviting ridicule and mockery on the Rockets for no reason

as incredible as James was, no, he was not a better scorer than MJ, and if that’s what your data is telling u, then your data is sh*t…take your eyes off the spreadsheet and use some common sense

these dudes are so desperate to boil the game of the basketball down to math equations or random new formulas that were just made up

“player X is better than player Y because he has a BET of 4, a CRAP/36 of 7, and his LGBT is 6.3”…KD is a sieve on defense because last year his DBBL was -0.6

What an absolutely stupid comment. I don’t like either’s personality, but Lebron may be the greatest to ever play the game and Durant is probably top 10-20. If he can stay on the court during the playoffs, he is the closer we need.
LOL. 10-12 best player in the NBA totally wrecks your original post. You are just a troll that makes really stupid comments just to get a rise out of people. Same as Joe Rocket. I’m surprised Codman wastes his time on either of you. If 10-12 best player is a shell of himself, I’ll take 10 of em.

Lebron James isn't even second and he's nowhere near Jordan. Talk about stupid comments. Both are severely overrated. Thank you for confirming that. Lebron jumps teams to stack the deck to win chips. Goats don't need to do that. You have a low bbiq if you think LeBron is anywhere near it's all contrived. KD is a loser that ran to the warriors when things got tough. He's still running.

Where do you think durant ranked at his peak? How big of a gap do you think there is right now between someone like shai and someone like KAT? Durant is still very good, but the idea that he’s close to his peak at this age is laughable and extremely dishonest.

I’m curious about the continuation of this part of the conversation with @xtruroyaltyx as he did pull one metric. Obviously stats can be skewed but if there are enough metrics in the aggregate to say one way or the other, there would be a case to be made whether KD has dropped off significantly. Can you provide some metrics to support your belief that he’s dropped significantly? It wouldn’t surprise me if he did, just curious in what areas that drop off has happened.

The only way the trade will turn out to be bad is if Durant gets a season ending (or worse career ending) injury. That, of course, is totally within the possible universe, and it's the risk worth taking.

I'd rather have Durant for 50 regular season games and the playoffs than Green for 82 games and the playoffs.

So i'll preface this by saying that i understand that A LOT of people have zero interest in this stuff and don't believe in it at all. Some people are just old school and believe in the "eye test", some because they hate morey, some hate math, some hate "nerds", lots of reasons. The people who value the opinion of people like kendrick perkins or shaq over people like ben taylor/sam vecenie will never see eye to eye with me, which is totally fine.

Here's some of the numbers though: I'll list his peak 1st and than 23-24 season followed by 24-25 season
Vorp: Peak durant was 8.9/9.6, last 2 years he was 4.3 and 3
WS: Peak durant was at 19, last 2 years he was 8.3 and 5.2
WS/48 he peaked around 0.300, last 2 years he was 0.14 and 0.11
BPM he peaked around +10, last 2 years he was +4 and +3.2

I looked at PIE which seems to be some sort of aggregation of counting stats his peak years were in the 20-21 range, last 2 years 14.8 and 14.2

Of course Durant is still the better player without question but the question is .....can Durant be more of a team player when it gets tough......is he willing to get benched.

Jalen is not established enough to complain and bark at the coach......or throw cryptic messages on X.com therefore the coach can sub him out any time......that is flexibility and flexibility is also a great strength.

Losing Dillon is also a loss in the Toughness department, no matter how well Dorian plays, he is a different player.

    We will find out soon......

I don't know why you need to worry about Durant needing to be benched. In what situation will he get benched if he's healthy? Even in an extremely unhappy situation last season in Phoenix, he still scored 27 ppg at high efficiency.

As for losing Brooks, he's at the deepest position we have. With the signing of DSF, he won't be missed very much. His toughness was needed 2 years ago. Not anymore. We have plenty of tough wing defender Ime can use now.

thanks for this. I’m curious if there’s anything in these numbers that might isolate where the biggest drop off is in his game (like attacking the rim or in the post). Not expecting you to know that but if you or anyone sees that in the data, that would be interesting and relevant to how Ime intends to use him.

I can't really answer that other than he's just old and the aging curve is a real thing, you just can't impact the game at 37 the way you did at 28.

Such a great closer that he couldnt close the 10th seed lol When is the last time he's been out of the second round? Youre talking about Warriors Durant when he had Steph not Durant now. He can shoot very efficiently but thats it and he will likely be injured half the season anyway. It was a dumb trade. get rid of Jalen sure great but not for locker room killer media idiot KD. KD makes the wrong decisions on a personal level on a daily basis.

Trade will still be a success in my eyes even if this happens.

First thing I said to my brother when the trade broke - knock on wood - KD could be injured his first game and I'd still be over the moon about the trade purely because Jalen Green is no longer a Rocket.

The longer people have to process not needing to cheer for Jalen, it's going to hit like a freight train just how glad people will be that he is gone.

I'll post this for the umpteenth time.

    Last season for the Suns:
    32-20 with Durant (61%)
    3-17 without Durant (15%)
1-9 the last 10 games when they quit trying because nobody gave a flip, even coach Bud.

They actually had a negative net rating with durant on the court, which is pretty insane. They were even worse with him off though, at -5.2 compared to -1.0 with him on.

Ive seen this before not by you its peddled by the media endlessly since he was traded. this is how you post about an overated player. yet the results are still no chip or conference finals even since steph curry lol. post all the "he's as efficient as curry" and "he's a top ten player" posts all you want but we have to play in october and that stat wont mean **** just like it didnt when they didnt make playoffs or play in last year. that stat is just a way to blame his teammates. you can find a million stats like that for harden and it amounts to no chip and playoff chokes. he keeps running away and looking for something easier. just like lenotgoat. thats who he is and i dont respect him. i hope he leaves in a year.

That team had 7 players who shot .381 or better from 3 - 5 of those .400 or better, 6 players with an eFG% above .598.

    They just couldn't stop anyone.
