Well at least we can stop worrying about getting a bye.

Joe Espada about to be 0-4 in his playoff career.

At that point you part ways with him.

I dunno but it took just over 40 years to duplicate 3 straight shutouts.

There is no way we make the playoffs, we have 50% of entire team made of AAA players.

I feel for our pitchers tonight....Hunter pitched his heart out ...King,Sousa,Abreau get the job done...and then Ort comes on and stinks the game away.

Which we all knew would happen when Ort took the mound

the offense had to do something before that and they didn’t

also if Diaz is called safe, we win

On how many attempts ? Also he's currently hitting .235 and was 0/4...so, he's not knocking the cover off the baseball of late either. NOTE: I looked it up...he has never even ATTEMPTED a sac bunt. I didn't know that...I wonder how you find out if you can bunt, if you never do it.

Very true....you have to have at least one run to win.

Powerless. Takes hitting to win in baseball. Can't hit, can't win.

Dusty didn't pinch hitting 3 players in a row with worse hitters.

Rumor has is that Ort is still out there walking guys.

Whatever - at least the Mariners lost yet again.

Someone needs to sit Espada down and tell him to calm down the tinkering.

They have been given a golden chance with the Mariners shutting the bed.

Get Yordan out there and stop playing a different line up every day. Decide if Trammel or Chas is your CF and stick to it. Melton can pinch run or go to Sugarland. Stick Urias at second and play him 80% of the time. Have Altuve either DH or left field every 90% of the time.

Map out a play for the pen and staff and try to stick to it.

Line Valdez/Brown/Javier/Alexander and decide if Arrighetti is the #5 or if he is going to the pen the rest of the way.

Look at pitchers like Quantrill that were released. Would the Astros be better using Quantrill in the rotation and moving Arrighetti to the pen for this season?

Right now the manager is running around like a chicken with his head cut off with weird line ups and pinch hitters and bizarre substitutions and the pen is even in disarray.

He isn’t going to bunt someone over - he isn’t even close to a guarantee to make contact to move the runner over. When he is playing well he hits a double to score the runner or a deep sacrifice fly. Can’t ask him to change what he is- can pitch hit for him or deal with his outcomes. The problem is that the guys that are supposed to do things like bunt, move runners over, steal aren’t great at it either - zero excuse for guys like Meyers, Dubon, Melton, Trammel and even Chas to not do these things well.
