That's so cool because a large portion of Palestinians have DNA linking them to the original Jews or to some type of early Jewish heritage which is a claim that many israelis especially those who migrated from Europe and America cannot make. Dr. Roy Casagranda has a great quote about this where he says, "every time a Palestinian is murdered by an israeli, a person is more Jewish is killed by a person who is less Jewish."

Greene issues scathing rebuke of conditions in Gaza: ‘I will not be silent about it’

Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) on Saturday upped her crusade against conditions in the Gaza Strip following a declaration of famine in the region by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification.

“U.S. taxpayers fund Israel $3.8 billion annually for military aid. That means every U.S. tax payer is contributing to Israel’s military actions,” Greene wrote in a Saturday post on X.

“I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to pay for genocide in a foreign country against a foreign people for a foreign war that I had nothing to do with. And I will not be silent about it,” she added.

The Georgia Republican lawmaker has urged her colleagues to raise their voices on the topic and urge the Trump administration to shift its stance on repeated strikes on Palestinians in the region.

Several world leaders have spoken out against the Israeli government’s actions and said they would take the necessary steps to recognize Palestine as a sovereign state.

However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has slammed their decisions and maintains that the government’s object is to eliminate Hamas, the terrorist group that attacked Israel during an Oct. 7, 2023, music festival.

“The innocent people in Gaza did not kill and kidnap the innocent people in Israel on Oct 7th,” Greene wrote on Saturday.

“Just as we spoke out and had compassion for the victims and families of Oct7, how can Americans not speak out and have compassion for the masses of innocent people and children in Gaza? Is one type of innocent life worthy and another type of innocent life worth nothing?” she asked.

I never thought I would agree with anything coming out of MTG's mouth, but I can now say I agree with her statements.

 

I was quite surprised. It's well worded at that!

Makes me wonder what the catch is or how she thinks her stance can benefit her. She's an idiot, and on the wrong side of nearly everything, but I don't think she got to congress without a little savvy...

 

There is some political or evangelical end-times angle to it, I suppose. The GOP has divided into the neocon vs isolationist camps, and she’s staking out a position in the latter. Probably anticipating that’s the direction the winds are blowing.

 

Over 80% of deaths caused by Israeli forces in Gaza are civilians, according to Israel’s own military intelligence. If true, it’s hard to argue this isn’t a modern-day war crime. By comparison, in Afghanistan and Iraq about 10-30% of those killed by U.S. and coalition forces were civilians.

Figures from a classified Israeli military intelligence database indicate five out of six Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in Gaza have been civilians, an extreme rate of slaughter rarely matched in recent decades of warfare.

 

Only someone driven by extreme hatred or religious zeal could be okay with famine or an extreme rate of civilian deaths (ie not even neocons). Most who continue to support this Israeli-extremist government just deny the reports to keep backing what is clearly an ongoing evil.

 

They can pretty easily fall back on “Hamas is responsible for everything” stance, which is what they do. Either (a) don’t pay attention to the reports because they’re coming from “Hamas sources” or (b) even if the reports are true, it’s Hamas’s fault because they can end it by leaving.

I would expect MTG to adopt this stance if the base she’s trying to appeal to held it. I think reports of Christians in Gaza being bombed to death by Israel is likely a major factor for her base of supporters. If Israel was Christian and Gazans were uniformly Muslim, would she be tweeting about saving the children? Maybe I’m too cynical, but I doubt it.

 

I'm sure, but it simply comes down to the fact that no one can justify the killing of children. You have to be full of hatred, a very religious zealot, or deny the story.

 

Gaza is perhaps the most uniformly Sunni Muslim area in the entire world. There are hardly any Shia Muslims in Gaza. There were only around 5,000 Christians there when Hamas took over in 2006. Now, there are around 600 out of 2.3 million. Gaza is 99.9% Sunni Muslim.

And yet she has given special attention to the impact on that .1%, if you follow what she’s been saying. And it’s still the case that these are Jewish forces attacking a Christian community in Gaza.

 

No amount of scripture says it's okay to kill children - to bomb and kill children indiscriminately, to kill them while they search for food, to deny them food and let them die of hunger. Religious zealots who are running the extremist government in Israel and those who support them are horrible for this world.

 

I have not followed anything she has said, except what was posted here. However, by the numbers, there are many more Arab Muslims & Christians and Druze in the IDF than there are non-Sunni Muslims in Gaza.

 

OK. I was expressing how I think she looks at the situation, and the points you are making don’t really change that.
