Anyone have any good experiences with shoe inserts?

I have foot pain, heel spurs, plantar fasciitis, and who knows what else. I do the stretches but they don't seem to help. I've tried the over the counter inserts but they do not last. I got some custom inserts from my chiropractor for $130 and they seem to be decent. I went to the Good Foot Store before covid but $1300 was not in the budget.

Have you been to a good foot doctor? I waited until my early 40s. Wish i did it back in my 20s. He told me which brand and model to get. Massive improvement without the need for custom shies or inserts

I did go to a foot doctor. He told me what I have, the stretches to do, and sold me a set on inserts. The problem was they made me start walking on the outside of my feet or at least that is the way my shoes would wear out.

    $1300???

For what kind of shoes? I mean that in general...what types of shoes do you use them in?

This is a massive YMMV question- everyone's feet are different.

I have Hobbit feet, they're big and wide and my arch isn't super high. In other words, perfect.

I like wearing Converse if that's any indication and New Balance for running shoes (because they have wide sizes). When I needed insoles, the only brand that's worked a damn in my boots are sofcomfort. https://www.sofcomfort.com/

Only shoe I'm paying $1300 for is a custom made exotic cowboy boot. Bananas.

I guess all types. they have life time warranty, but as soon as I would buy a set they will go out of business.

brooks and new balance have all sorts of configurations. Brooks Addiction work best for me by a wide margin.
Also a good running shoe store can put you on a treadmill and assist.
good luck though and keep looking. Bad feet can affect quality of life.

Do you buy one set of inserts for $1300 and move them between all your shoes?

I've been buying the best "Dr Scholls For Shock (or Work)", off of amazon, using them for a few months and then putting in a new pair. That's in my everyday work shoes/boots and casual shoes (I buy the cushiest flip-flops I can find, which covers 40% of my time). Cowboy boots last longer because I don't wear them as much. Dress shoes last even longer than that.

Never been to a proper doctor to get some adjusted to my specific feets (I have 1 foot 1/2 size bigger than the other).

Have you, since you mentioned various foot pains, tried any of the "sleep in" toe-spreader-type stuff? They seemed to help me when I was having random arch-muscle cramps.

My dad had a few pair of fancy boots that he either had made or were made for him....unfortunately his feet were about 1 size too small. I tried. It hurt.

The Good Feet Store will try to sell you their "cadillac" for 1300, which IIRC is three different shoe inserts. If you tell you only want the shoe inserts for everyday walking around, that should cost about 1/3 of 1300, so $400ish for one pair of shoe inserts. The GFS sells many different brands of shoe inserts and guarantee satisfaction, so you can take back the "everyday walking around" shoe inserts and they will let you try another brand until you find one that works for you.

I ended up buying the GFS "cadillac" (which I gladly paid for since my feet were killing me). I ended up only using the "everyday walking around" shoe inserts, which solved my problem, so I am a Big Fan.
