They’ve said on the broadcast multiple times he wants to focus on playing 3B. Dubon is more than capable of playing SS…I don’t know why you are so hung up on this

Yes. You test for flu and Covid still. There’s actually a ton of that going around now.

    Indeed…

but seriously, somebody tell me how many of the multiple inning outings were extra inning induced?

If you’re talking about only the 2 innings outings, I’m almost positive all of them were extra innings. They could have avoided this by just not using him in tied games in the 9th.

That’s rich coming from you lol

Also love how you ignored the Hader comment. I’m glad you finally realize you were the moron and everyone else was right about that though.

Because we are weakening 3 defensive positions

And doing so with an extreme ground ball pitcher

They can get used to new spots when more fly balls are likely to be hit

I get where you are coming from just to be clear. I’m just saying that’s the thought process behind the decision.

And I know he made an error the last time out but Dubon has mostly been solid there so it’s not like we have some terrible defense now with him. Urias has looked good at 2B as well

Remembering what he previously posted (even minutes prior) is not a particular strength of his. His Espada meltdown over not playing Hader when he was injured was pretty epic.

I disagree, especially if you’re the home team.

Show me a manager of a winning team that doesn’t use their closer almost routinely in those situations? (At least every Astros opponent has done so in tie games in the 9th).

Astros really should rest Josh Hader for 6 weeks instead, let him heal up and rest.

    Don't rush him.

Yea they aren't terrible, and like I said if we didn't have Framber going it wouldn't bother me so much

I just think with Framber on the hill you put your best infield defense out there. Dude has been dominant at home

That’s fine then use someone else in the 10th then. I’d be willing to bet 7 outings of 2 innings is among the highest for closers. Munoz has zero.

Agreed. We even all discussed that very instance/scenario the last go around… after Hader pitched a very low stress 8 pitch 9th inning in NY. (Was mixed in here… I said I didn’t want him to go back out, but understood why if he would… while others thought it was a no brainer).

Him possibly going multiple innings on occasion was a hot button topic even before Espada started managing him.

Yeah, to me that NY game is a good example of being unnecessary. We had a 3 run lead. The Cleveland game was also unnecessary. Really the only one I agreed with was against the Mariners. They had already taken the first game and we scored only one run in the top of the 10th.

I was wrong in my last comment though - it’s been 7 outings of 4+ outs, not 2 full innings. Munoz has zero of those outings as well so that’s still the accurate. The issue is getting hot, pitching and then sitting down before coming back out to pitch again so doesn’t really change anything.

Essentially makes every high leverage reliever one inning only. The 3 batter rule has also played havoc with bullpen usage/injury prevention, along with pitch clocks (but definitely keeps the pace of play acceptable…).

so, how many 2 inning games were there (presuming all extras)? And while Munoz may not have done it, have to think there are some closers out there getting 4 out saves on occasion. Hader has miles.
