3 pointers and free throws still look bad... everything else good. i really am getting concerned that he may never truly improve on either. not using any lower body. very 2-motion oriented.
Their guards suck. That dude at the end who rebounded that Larkin crap 3 should've made that bucket to take it to OT.
I'm with you except I would change "may never" to "probably not this year". Both Alpi and his team were much more engaged today than last week, so the Group Phase games are going to be really fun to watch. Team Turkey should be tuned up and ready to go and Alpi will be at his best. I'm disappointed how his jumper looked against Germany, but the other parts of his game were just fine. His handles seemed tighter and he looked more athletic. I don't believe he took a single mid-range shot, but that was because the defense denied them. I don't follow European basketball at all, but Germany appeared to be the better coached and more talented team. Alpi did all he could and played the right way. Forget 3-pointers. Alpi will average 25+ if he masters the mid-range and regains his touch on close-in push shots.
25pts on 8/11 with 83.5 TS%.. Can all the naysayers and haters kindly go **** yourself in the ass with a rusty breadknife for being the dumbest sons of b****es on this green Earth of ours? Super efficient game, couldn't give a **** about the 3 pointers, we've got the #2 shooter of all time.
overall, I think Alpi's performance this game is pretty good considering how much defense he gets from the opposing side. If his team only has better players that can get respect from the outside, he should be doing pretty well. Imagine being the only player the team can rely on for offense and being the sole focus for Germany on the defensive side. I think he will have a great season this year given that Durant will take some of that focus away and free up some shots for him.
The semi-jokey breakdown of the teams I did earlier is pretty accurate. Germany is full of legitimate Euroleague players, they're a squad to be fair.
Also to add, scoring 20+ points in a european match is a big deal. It's not as open like the NBA rules are.
Yeah you're right. People probably don't realise that you're looking at a squad of top-tier European players with still solid NBA player against Turkey where Alpi is the clear best player then there's some other fringe NBA/Euroleague tier guys, some Euroleague guys and a smattering of Eurocup tier (not remotely the same standard.) The game plan is always going to focus entirely on Sengun in those kind of games because the other team knows if they can limit him then they win because the rest of his squad is a step behind.
he actually played but he sucked against Schroder's defense. He also airballed that game winning 3 which Alpi rebounded and missed a putback as well
The euro game is not a good indicator of his outside shooting imo. Not saying that he improved or not, but just that we’ll need wait for the regular season for that.
Oh yeah my bad, it was a tip to Cedi Osman who missed the putback while Sengun was hip checked to the baseline
