It's getting harder to determine the safest places to live more and more, from extreme heat, wildfire risks, earthquake risks, mudslide risks, unprecedented floods, to rapidly intensifying hurricanes, and to areas full of toxic waste and pollution spewing. But hey, pump out the toxins. Climate change is a hoax.
This is not a comment on climate change, but where I am in Upstate NY is pretty nice if you can deal with some cold temperatures and snow. I was in Texas last week and you guys can keep that 104 degrees that I walked out of the airport into. You can dress for the cold; you can't walk around naked to stay cool in Texas without trouble.

I'm talking about the US. I have no plans to move abroad, but I'm not sure where the best place to live is anymore in our country, between flash flood zones, hurricane zones, earthquake and wildfire threats, and avoiding cancer alleys and tornado alleys.

The 2024 data has been collected and analyzed. At the continental level, here's what we saw: Africa: hottest year on record. Antarctica: second lowest sea ice level. Asia: second hottest year on record. Australia: second hottest year on record. Europe: hottest year on record. North America: hottest year on record. South America: hottest year on record. Also, note that the source of this data has been discontinued under the current administration.
Atlantic is significantly warmer than average, a condition that is 200 times more likely because of human-induced climate change.

Losing a lot of Antartica's albedo (reflecting sunlight back to space) will be a bad thing. "Some of these abrupt changes will be difficult to stop." Shifts in different facets of Antarctica's climate system amplify each other and have accelerated the pace of warming globally as well, Abram said. The study looked at evidence of abrupt change — or "regime shifts" — in sea ice, regional ocean currents, the continent's ice sheet and ice shelves, and marine life. It also examined how they interact. Floating sea ice does not significantly add to sea level when it melts, but its retreat does replace white surfaces that reflect almost all of the sun's energy back into space with deep blue water, which absorbs the same amount instead. ... Since 2014, sea ice has retreated on average 120 kilometers, or roughly 75 miles, from the continent's shoreline. That contraction has happened about three times faster in 10 years than the decline in Arctic sea ice over nearly 50.
