We've already bought tickets for the Panthers on Saturday. A little disappointing, but whatever is best for getting the guys tuned up.

For many many years it used to be why can't we get awesome well above average cornerbacks? - now we got that so the TE trap is hitting - can't have it all

They have that rule where you can't go 3 days in a row with pads. tomorrow they have the joint practices.

Joint practice with the Panthers today.
Let's see how the offense does against a team not named the Texans.

If there is any defense the Texans offense should abuse, it's the Panthers.

Haven’t seen much on how Nick Chubb is looking…any hope he can be a contributor with Mixon out? Default RB1 right now? Feels like too many question marks on offense side of the ball.

I am not going to get my hopes up with Chubb, if he can do ANYTHING I will be impressed but IMO father time is wrapping him up

The most telling report was from a week and a half ago and it wasn’t positive:

“Texans Wire’s Cole Thompson reports that Nick Chubb’s burst “is nowhere to be found.”
Ouch. Thompson says that Chubb is specifically struggling to generate the burst necessary to get through “the second and third level of the defense.” This is unsurprising for a 29-year-old running back coming off two injury-ruined seasons. Joe Mixon’s (ankle/foot) Week 1 status is up in the air and Chubb seemingly no longer has the juice. People should closely follow dual-threat rookie RB Woody Marks’ training camp and preseason reports.”

Hopefully a guy becomes available that would be able to immediately step in from another team’s cuts, as sad as it is to say.

Can’t have CJ stepping back throwing 40 times a game. Run game is crucial to taking that next step.

Texans are banking on coaching being the primary issue with the oline last season - like 70% primary. Only one lineman drafted, no FAs, and no Tunsil.

    Must be 70% coaching.

I don't buy that for one minute but can't wait to be wrong.

If it's true that the former offensive coordinator didn't allow Stroud to adjust protection schemes to pick up blitzes or change the play at the line, it's VERY likely coaching was at least 70% of the problem

    We're going to find out.

I'm looking for CJ to improve as the year goes along.

I wouldn't count him out just yet. He is coming off of two major leg injuries, so he might be done, of course. But he might also still be getting back into the flow of everything.

If he is productive at all, I'd be happy, but there's an outside chance he could be a pretty good pickup still, imo.
