on 1 Aug, Stunning revisions show US added 258K fewer jobs than first reported, by US Companies to BLS who compiles the data and then releases the data on 4 Aug, Trump Fired Erika McEntarfer, the BLS commissioner, accusing her of politicizing the labor, without any evidence Traitor George proceeded to parrot the same convenient lie Today, Scot Bessent, Trump 2.0's Treasury Secretary, effectively, stremgthened the validity of the weak labor data as compiled / reported by the BLS Bessent said [ had the revised data on the labor market been reported to the BLS before the last Fed meeting ] officials, most probably, would have already cut rates.
Thought this article was reasonably interesting and is from the view of a company that mixes both made in USA and foreign made. https://www.nbcnews.com/business/consumer/made-in-usa-blue-jeans-expensive-rcna224495 TLDR: Manufacturing costs are much higher in USA. To keep cost of products reasonable, there is essentially no profit margin, and product is subsidized by the profit from jeans made in bangladesh Perhaps most surprising was the comment that tariffs don't really help, since it cuts down on the profit from the ones made in bangladesh which are used to subsidize stuff that is made in USA Jeans made in Bangladesh sell for $40 with 20% profit. Made in USA sell for $70 with 5% profit. Even with a 100% tariff, jeans made in bangladesh still come out ahead Manufacturing equipment/technology is behind rest of the world. Only capable of making simpler items like teans/hoodies/jeans LouisVuitton handbag factory in Texas worst performing with higher defect rate Worker training takes months or more, with retention rate only around 25% despite above market salaries. This kind of reinforces the question do americans really want to go back to working in factories?
Wholesale prices rose far more than expected in July, providing a potential sign that inflation is still a threat to the U.S. economy, a Bureau of Labor Statistics report Thursday showed. The producer price index, which measures final demand goods and services prices, jumped 0.9% on the month, compared to the Dow Jones estimate for a 0.2% gain. It was the biggest monthly gain since June 2022. Excluding food and energy prices, core PPI rose 0.9% against the forecast for 0.3%. Excluding food, energy and trade services, the index was up 0.6%, the biggest gain since March 2022. https://www.cnbc.com/2025/08/14/ppi-inflation-report-july-2025-.html
The producer price index for final demand jumped 0.9% last month after being unchanged in June, the Labor Department's Bureau of Labor Statistics said on Thursday. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast the PPI rising 0.2%. When will the dotard fire the new Commissioner of BLS he had named ?
This **** is ****ing up my board game addiction. Companies are either not making games or the pricing is bananas. Fuuuuuck you Trump.
Anyone that thinks there won't be inflation because of tariffs is just ignorant or stupid. They are literally trying to make imported products expensive enough that companies will make them in America. That will increase demand for American labor and real estate which will drive costs even higher which in turn will increase inflation even more. Wide scale tariffs are a stupid idea. I'm not against tariffs, but it should be used selectively for strategic industries and countries. Subsidizing strategic industries is a much better use of our government resources.
Its gonna be fun if the Fed declines to drop rates because of inflation. I wonder whether 77 million people voted for tariff driven inflation (@raining threes)? As I recall, @strosb4bros (maybe it was someone else) said it would take until mid 2026 for tariff turmoil/inflation/ to calm down and the benefits of the tariff scheme will start to surface. Meanwhile, @El_Conquistador says tariffs are great right now, period full stop. I request that these three dudes huddle to discuss and provide an outlook that is Trumpworthy.
fake news. US wholesale prices actually declined 33%. They forgot to carry the decimal and got the sign wrong. It happens.
@El_Conquistador congratulation MAGATs! You did the impossible! You stopped manufacturing from leaving China!
Where is all the maga outrage, like when egg prices jumped up due to bird flu? This is 100% self inflicted, screw the folks who live paycheck to paycheck just to give bigger tax breaks to the Billionaires...............that is all this is, he does not care about anyone but himself. If the maga folks think this is a winning formula then keep it up........................when its time to vote, people will look around and say, I did not sign up for this............oh sure his maga base will not falter, they will happily subsidize the 1% cause they think there part of the "club".....................HOT TAKE, they don't give ONE **** about you, your just a vote to them
