Pitched 4 years for Texas. Set up man for our last national title. Co-host of everyone gets a trophy- great pod for Texas fans.
wrong thread.... BUT! It's great to see our players 1 by 1 coming back off the IR. Garcia with a higher pitch count today and top end fast ball.
Luis Garcia went 4.2 innings on 77 pitches tonight in Sugarland. Gave up 6 hits, 6 K’s, and 1 run. More importantly, imo, he topped out at 94.7 MPH. Which is closer to the velo we saw pre-injury.
I think you just made him up except in 1975 he had a bit role in Kung Fu https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randy_Boone
Looking at the schedule over the rest of August, the Astros may have an opportunity to create a bit of separation heading into September if they can handle business. Astros have 13 games ahead vs teams with losing records. (7 vs Baltimore, 3 vs COL, and 3 vs LAA and a 3 game set against the Tigers sandwiched in between). During that same stretch- the Mariners play 12 games vs teams with winning records. (3 vs NYM, 3 vs Philly, 3 vs SD, and 3 vs CLE). Also worth noting that the Mariners play Baltimore again tomorrow with Logan Evans on the mound- who just hasn’t been as good as their other starters.
Astros that have missed significant time this season... Josh Hader - Closer Ronel Blanco - #3 starter Hayden Wesneski #4 starter Spencer Arrighetti #4 starter Christian Javier #3 starter Luis Garcia #3-4 starter Lance McCullers #3 starter Brandon Walter #5 starter JP France - Long reliever Shawn Dubin - Pen Yordan Alvarez - Star Jeremy Pena - Star Issac Paredes - Star Jake Meyers - Starter Jacob Melton - Reserve Zach Dezenzo - Reserve Brendan Rodgers - POS
Yeah he’s been a monster since Tampa outrighted him and let him go back to starting. Predictable. But also predictable that he’ll get hurt or meltdown before he has a dominant season in the majors.
I’d bet on houston over everyone else but some guys just need failure or another thought in their head. Who knows?
At least they got through 5 full so if it is called it counts. Also, it seems that when teams go on a long winning streak they ramp up pressure of keeping it going, then when they finally lose they have a mini slump as that pressure ramps down....let's hope the Mariners drop several now. DD
Look man, we have 17 games through the Angels series on Labor day weekend. 7 Baltimore, 3 Detroit, 3 Colorado, 4 angels. I don't want to hear about bullshit like getting swept by the A's- look at who was on the field for us, they were legitimatley better as a 26 roster than we were at that time. Getting back pitchers and the deadline deals make that no longer a thing. I don't see any reason why we couldn't go 15-2 or 14-3 or something and I'd sort of expect 11-6. If we go 11-6 with what Seattle has on the schedule we should go into September with a 4-6 game lead in the division and in standings we should be a top 1 or 2 seed for a bye.
Actually, it would be nice if they started playing again after a few more hours. O's are jumping on a plane and flying to Houston after the game, so the later the better!
