If Hader is actually out for the year (And I don't think he is- I read it's muscle related not structural from someone who knows stuff that I've traded info with in the past that's usually correct) then it's an absolute no brainer to both 1) Bring up Ullola and put him in the bullpen in mid leverage situations and move him up as high in the leverage pecking order as they can, along with bringing Garcia into the bullpen and seeing if his velo can play up in 1 or 2 inning stints at a time. Hader has been really good and it's nice to have him, but really and truly guys, 9 out of 10 games are saved by pretty much any but the most ass of closers. It isn't ideal but it will be ok.
We really can't have anything nice this season.... Players finally returning.... And we lose some to injury... Unreal
If I bring him up - I would not put Ullola in mid leverage situations. I would put him in high leverage situations and tell him to throw strikes or he can take the bus back to Sugar Land.
So does Abreu become the closer, or do they want to keep him as the only RH leverage guy? I could see Espada using Sousa. The benefit being Abreu could be used for specific pockets of hitters. I like Dubon back, but this bullpen is not the same as it was 2 months ago, even with Hader. Gonna need to score more runs and have more/bigger leads.
If a prospect was needed for high/moderate leverage situations, is Ullola or Santa the better choice?
Why not give Pressly a run? Maybe the Astros could help him work through some things. Don't see how it hurts. Unless Pressly is still sore about the whole situation with Hader.
Espada: "Hey Bryan, with Hader-ade on the IR, I am going to need you to go two and sometimes three innings. Your teammates appreciate it bud." Abreu: "Who the **** do you think you are?" Espada: "Go ahead and start warming up, I am going to you in about 4 hours." Abreu: "Folla a tu madre" Espada: "Love the positive energy Bry-Bry!"
Oh ****....... Espada in the interview said he talked to the bullpen after Hader got hurt..... he was told to stay away from there.
Rip the band aid off right away and don't let him get his feet wet? Did you throw your kid in the deep end of the pool and tell him to swim too? I kid.
My take is they don't know a damn thing yet, but they had to make a roster move so they placed him on the IL and slapped the "Shoulder Strain" label on it.
He really is an idiot. An affable one apparently, but an idiot. Why can't we have non-idiot managers Nook? I'm not asking for the professional version of Augie Garrido who could apparently see the future. All I'm looking for is someone who understands math, logic and doesn't actively antagonize the clubhouse? Is that really that hard?
Don't have time to screw around. The stuff is good enough to get out big league hitters, even elite ones. He gives up 6 hits per 9 innings with 12 K's ...... but he walks almost 7 a game. He is 23, not 18 - if he wants to eat at Gibson's and not Cici's, he will throw strikes and make everyone elses life easier, otherwise he can go back to Sugar Land and have Forrest Whitley's old locker.
Dana Brown would like a smart manager - however, a stupid manager that will defer to Dana Brown is better to both Dana Brown and Jim Crane than a smart manager that constantly butts heads with the front office. Dana had issues with Baker, or more precisely he avoided having issues with Baker by letting him do whatever he wanted within reason. Jim Crane liked this because he did not have his GM, manager, assistant coaches and other front office people all calling him complaining. So for now we have Espada - he stays out of trouble, gets the benefit of the doubt from his players because he is a genuinely good person, and when Dana Brown suggests something Espada nods and acts like it is his idea. When Espada screws up, he supposedly takes accountability for it behind closed doors. He is like a really stupid dog. You know he is an idiot, but you love him because he is loyal.
