At this point, any of these teams could get swept in the first round…. Or make the World Series… and there really wouldnt be much surprise either way. Hell, even a team on the outside looking in (Guardians, Rangers, Royals) can easily get hot and advance far.
(But he also didn’t always have command). His stuff is good enough to get away with mistakes. Cement-mixing hanging sliders (like the one he threw Bregman in the first) is hopefully just part of him working out the kinks.
Walker 28 RBIs in his last 32 games (that's 142 RBIs over a 162 game season). OPS approaching .900 over that time.
Sometimes guys being forced to step up (especially in the bullpen) can change the dynamics significantly. We’ve also seen Sousa, Okert, and Ort all get leverage opportunities this season (along with King)… that does go a long way when situations like this arise. And as long as there is nothing structurally wrong with Hader, he was going to need a spell. it was clear his stuff wasn’t what it was to start the season. Not nearly as many swing/misses. Having to mix in some changeups because fastball/slider wasn’t doing it by itself anymore.
He hit 95 twice, velocity was great considering and when he got control he looked pretty damn tough. Best possible outcome IMO
Shoulder injuries scare the crap out of me... that's 12-18 months if rotator cuff. I am still scarred from the Carlos Hernandez and Morgan Ensberg experiences.
You’re not wrong. Occasionally you’ll have that “built to win it all” favorite that proceeds to **** their pants in the first round and then it’s wide open again.
Neither. Any farmhand/surplus starter previously this season b4 them please. Even if forget the obv competing aspect, we have the vibes now but don't give good signal to guys working their asses off if we keep rewarding reunion guys for ******** bed over n over again. Neris is cooked but also everybody has seen him for 10years straight so there is only oppo thinking does he melt by himself or do we need to crush him. It might be god send he is so bad now that Dana and Joe can't be dreaming of him making magic escapes in the post season once again. If he would have wiggled out of every jam with unreal luck the myth of Neris would be alive still and bad roster decisions would follow. Unknown young arm always has that little unknown working for him if he just keeps cool and calm head. Great win. The way Sousa came to finish this had big balls written all over it. Good patient hitter and had no chance. . Chas face trying to contain pure joy was priceless and Walker keeps keeping on. Go Stros!
Dude a ****ing stomach virus scares the crap out of me with this team. Guy comes down with the flu turns out to be Ebola.
I might be talking out of my a*s but they use to fear shoulder problems the most. Was it something like you can always get the feared TJ and 15-18month lay off for elbow, but shoulder problems might take guys ability to pitch/throw for good.
