Well obviously the concern moving forward looking at the playoffs isn't gonna have much to do with the players. It's gonna be Joe Espada. His everyone of my relievers is great mentality is going to absolutely kill us.
Before tonight, Crochet had pitched at least five innings in every start this season and had not lost since May. Astros knocked him out in four innings and gave him a fat L.
Well he warmed up yesterday, so that was probably a contributing factor. When a relief pitcher warms up, it might as well be an appearance.
No...if he knew they all were out he should have sent Ort back out there for a 2nd inning. Like I said, I don't get what the plan was if Javier was only able to go 4 innings like we all expected. It's almost like they just assumed we were going to lose this game.
Javier great start. First win in 450+ days, could be huge for this team down the stretch Nice to see Neris hit 10 year tenure. Give him his gifts and find someone better
The only other way out of that qould have been Okert instead of Neris. But Toro still gets the homer. Toro only does that vs us. Followed by Santos then Sousa to close it. Cray that they ran out of arms
Christ let’s hope not. Maybe Espada figured he would need the BP to really perform today and tomorrow so rolled the dice
No his game plan was no Abreu and no Hader, no matter what, even if it costs us this game. It very nearly did.
Like 15% of Hader’s appearances have been multiple innings. He has labored in some of those too. He threw like 35 pitches last time out. Hader is already at or near the innings he threw the last 3-4 years before joining the Astros. Last year he threw too many, and they are trying to keep him under last year. He is on pace for a 3+ WAR season as a reliever. They just are being smart with him.
He probably also didn't have this game penciled in as a win so he might have looked at it as house money. Probably wanted to keep the bullpen for tomorrow if spaghetti manages a lead when he's done.
Stros been in Space Cowboys training camp mode... feels like they're now fielding a major league team. Great way to start our season... in August... at home... with familiar faces.
Yep...absolutely. Javier should have planted his foot in some butts if we blew that...we certainly tried.
It's funny that you think the manager determines whether pitchers are available to pitch on a given day. It helps explain some of your posts though.
This junk fellow Toro always plays his brain out against us. The first a couple years after he left us and with Mariners he hit so good too.
