Palestinian Pele’ Suleiman al-Obeid killed while seeking aid in Gaza

Al-Obeid was known as the ‘Pele of Palestinian football’ and became one of its brightest stars.

Former national team player and star of the Khadamat al-Shati team, Suleiman Al-Obeid, was martyred after the [Israeli] occupation forces targeted those waiting for humanitarian aid in the southern Gaza Strip on Wednesday,” the Palestinian Football Association said in a statement.

While FIFA refuses to ban Israel from its competitions, Israel has killed hundreds of football players in Gaza since October 2023.

With al-Obeid’s death, the number of athletes and their family members killed in the Strip since the start of Israel’s war has risen to 662.

The number of football-related deaths in Gaza now stands at 321, including players, coaches, administrators, referees and club board members.

Yeah we instead allowed them to transition to prominent roles in NATO, NASA and the CIA. Can't forget Otto Skorzeny, former SS officer who became a high profile Mossad agent.

How Netanyahu Prolonged the War in Gaza to Stay in Power - The New York Times

But for Netanyahu, a truce also came with personal risk. As prime minister, he led a fragile coalition that depended on the support of far-right ministers who wanted to occupy Gaza, not withdraw from it. They sought a long war that would ultimately enable Israel to re-establish Jewish settlements in Gaza. If a cease-fire came too soon, these ministers might decide to collapse the ruling coalition. That would prompt early elections that polls showed Netanyahu would lose. Out of office, Netanyahu was vulnerable. Since 2020, he had been standing trial for corruption; the charges, which he denied, mostly related to granting favors to businessmen in exchange for gifts and favorable media coverage. Shorn of power, Netanyahu would lose the ability to force out the attorney general who oversaw his prosecution — as indeed his government would later attempt to do.
    ....

It was 5:44 p.m., according to minutes of the meeting. At that moment, the prime minister was forced to choose between the chance of a truce and his political survival — and Netanyahu opted for survival. There was no cease-fire plan, he promised Smotrich. “No, no, there’s no such thing,” he said. And as the cabinet discussion moved on, Netanyahu quietly leaned over to his security advisers and whispered what must have by then become obvious to them: “Don’t present the plan.”

War criminals! It's so sick that the world watches in horror and world leaders do nothing to stop it, even with all those brave journalists dying to tell the world the horrors.

I just don't understand how anyone who supports israel can see the media suppression they're enforcing on this situation, whether it's killing journalists in Gaza, preventing international media from entering Gaza and doing their own coverage or pulling strings to get any pro-Palestinian voices in western media removed/silenced and think to themselves that this is something the good guys would do in this situation.

Or how any time there's a major security event, such as Oct 7 itself, the Al Ahli hospital bombing, Hind Rajab's murder etc, the occupation flat out refuses any 3rd party investigations. How does that not raise suspicion among its supporters? Like I've said, you would quite literally have to convince your mind that the things your eyes are seeing are not real.

    I trust no one:

What does "eliminates entire Al Jazeera team" really mean?

    Broadcast infrastructure? Humans? Both?

Maybe a worthwhile news item, but Fuentes is a raging antisemite racist and he’s not the guy I’d be following for news.

It's because the "journalists in Gaza" are largely Hamas allies that create propaganda videos. Seach "Pallywood" on YouTube and you will find plenty of examples of "journalists in Gaza" recording staged/fake events as part of a propaganda campaign against Israel.

They bomb the tents which serve as Al Jazeera office and killed 5 staff, including that famous reporter.

More importantly, its not like a colleteral damage or something - they targeted that. Real mensch behaviour.

The nation state of Israel isn't going anywhere. It has solidified itself militarily and diplomatically, including through recognition by Arab states.

Pretending it will disappear doesn't get Palestinians anywhere.
