It had its defensive reasons, too. We were one of the best defenses in the league before double big. After double big we were the absolute best defense in the league. Those line-ups were nightmare level for opposing offenses. If I'm not mistaken defensive rating was 80 something when Adams and Sengun were both on the floor during the play-offs.
Fair enough, I just never recall any narrative about it being due to Sengun's defensive weaknesses at all, especially not from Udoka. I'd still love to see the quote where he apparently attributed it to that though.
Sengun is not yet on the Shaq or Dream tier where everyone else on the roster is there to complement him. There's nothing wrong with acknowledging that Sengun or Amen hurt our floor spacing last season, even if they're among our best players and prospects. We can build around their weaknesses, we don't need to bury our heads in the sand and pretend they don't exist. I like Sengun, Amen, and Adams a lot and it can be argued that none of them are expected to shoot. But they were on the court together a lot in the second half of the season and it caused some spacing issues. Seems unfair to blame it on the other two guys in the lineup.

I think in the context of a team with no primary scorer and several non-shooters it would be hard to expect anyone to shoot at an above average rate. It depends on whether the offense can create quality looks, no? I can't find the stats right now on NBA homepage, but they used to have a page that showed the percentages for players when guarded vs open. It would surprise me if shooters got more open looks with the Amen/Sengun/Adams lineup than without. Extreme example, but the in the 16-17 season OKC's starting lineup was Westbrook, Oladipo, Roberson, Sabonis, and Adams. Three non-shooters and an average one at best in Oladipo. Westbrook took the most threes for OKC that year. Would you naturally expect him to hit at an above average rate with that lineup?
that's why OKC got rid of all of the and finally won the chip with SGA who was an ultra efficient scorer same with Rockets they got rid of Jalen for KD so now most perimeter shots by KD then FVV and Jabari and lets see Alpis and Amens jumpers's improvement
Double big with 2 slow-footed guys will never be a big thing in the modern NBA. It will be used situationally and with Durant now on our team and with Amen’s offensive skillset surging, I doubt it will be utilized very much this year. We were such a poor shooting team last year that the only way we could be even an average offense was due to offensive rebounding at an all-time level. Now that we substituted a 60+ TS% guy for a 40ish guy we won’t be nearly as dependent on a short-term gimmick.
