They don't even have to get better. Just having KD makes everything easier for everyone and better

Yeah, ironically I could better understand someone with that sentiment last offseason, when Sengun was super efficient on offense, and took another step up on defense. But this past year his shooting dipped really hard. I am hopeful it's an aberration. But until he can show it on the court, I'm still just crossing my fingers.

It seems a lot of people are going to be surprised how good Sengun (and the rest of the players) will be simply be subtracting Jalen Green and adding Durant alone.

Subtracting Green alone would've been a positive for everyone on the team regardless, but adding an offensive superstar is downright absurd.

I mostly agree. I know the on and off data showed green as a negative, but I still think there’s something that’s unquantified that was a positive for the team in regards to Jalen. Maybe I’m just wrong.

that being said, having Amen attacking the basket and Durant replacing and upgrading the offense should do a lot for us. and this is without considering that every player in all of the lineups should benefit from Durant and the growth from everyone on the team.

I think you are simply wrong, Green's game never evolved to gel with others. He didn't have a two man game with Sengun, he didn't drive and kick out, he simply got the ball, tried to create something and either did, or turned it over and gave it back to Sengun or FVV to start over again, For someone who didn't make anyone better his personal numbers were not good enough.

Sengun was consistently a very efficient inside scorer while playing alongside Jalen for every year of his career. He was also efficient playing with guys like Nix and Chistopher and TyTy. There's no need to attribute Sengun's huge drop in efficiency last year to anyone else. Sengun's shooting simply got worse last year.

The thought of Sengun at the top of the key with the basketball in his hands, Amen cutting along the baseline, and KD shifting to an open spot along the arc fills me with joy and delight. Not to mention what this might mean for Jabari and Fred who will likely get lost by the other team with all the focus on the others. CAN'T F'ING WAIT FOR THE F'ING SEASON TO BEGIN!

Green’s absence might help Sengun to increase playmaking rather than efficiency. I think his efficiency will go back up but not mainly by Green is gone.

Sengun is a good, not great player, he will never be a franchise player but he will always be a very good supporting player.

Why would you phrase this as a certainty? Development is non-deterministic; no one on this board knows what his ceiling is.

You can look to his defensive improvment last year for example, Alpi was seen as a defensive liability who would need to produce Jokic-lite numbers to be a viable starting center on a contending team in the playoffs. During the Warriors series his defense was arguably better than his offense, he was one of the only consistent contributors during that series and a major reason we pushed them to a game 7 in the first place.

In the span of a year he was able to invert his greatness weakness into an arguable strength. I guess my overall point is that it is bad scientific practice to speak with such certainty about these theoretical 'ceilings' as they are just arbitrary concepts with no concrete definition. Its ok to use it as a loose comparison tool or as a way to try to scale what a player could become, but to ascertain that he cant or will never become a superstar is foolish in my opinion, especially with no empircal evidence to back up these claims. No one knows what he or Amen could become.

I, for one, believe he and Amen can both become superstars. I predict Alpi will average 26/11/6 on good ts% with solid team defense. That imo is a superstar. I suppose we shall see

Just be glad DD is not cheering for Sengun, that's the kiss of death for a career.

I'm actually in the camp of people who thinks we haven't seen close to peak Alpi yet tbh. I think if he starts adopting KD-level workouts now he'll have a legitimate top guy to model himself on then he's still got plenty of room to grow even if he never becomes a distance shooter. I'd genuinely rather he just be efficient and shoot his post moves than keep tanking his efficiency with grounding flamingo middies. If he did that alone with no other growth he's fixed his one issue. Add in some growth to that and a lot more strength and conditioning as he builds towards his prime and I wouldn't underestimate him just yet tbh.

The whole double big line up was to mask Sengun's defensive liabilities. Improvement?

I've been saying this repeatedly since January. Alpi doesn't need a 3-point shot to level up. The most important thing is a deadly mid-range jumper and regaining his touch 3-6 feet from the basket. If he does this, I expect 25+ ppg coming up.

You are literally always wrong. Alp was the anchor of a top 10 defense and one of the better defenders on the team. Metrics, stats and eyeball test supports this.

You just can’t help but hate on our best young player.
