Why is Trump covering up the Epistein files and lying to the public?

I found this NYT article about the effort illuminating: How a Frantic Scouring of the Epstein Files Consumed the Justice Dept. - The New York Times

The impression I get is that, after all the campaign focus, Trump wanted to get something concrete out of these files for an indictment, preferably of a democrat or something. So they combed all the files and maybe found salacious stuff but nothing they could build an indictment on. So instead they had to think about what they could release that would embarrass enemies instead. But the documents had victims' names and other sensitive information that would make the Admin look incompetent to release, so they had to review everything to make sure things were properly redacted. Then they discovered more victims' names that they weren't scrubbing for before, so they had to go through again. And of course, there were also the famous people mentioned in the documents, like Trump, whom the DOJ would not by practice want to insinuate was a pedo without being about to bring charges. So they were redacted too. At the end of all that, they found there was no good way to embarrass an enemy without embarrassing Trump more. So they tried to bury the whole thing.

Point of all that being, the 1000 agents were necessary for combing the files looking for leads. Part of their job was redacting Trump mentions, but they were also redacting victims' names and grand jury testimony and looking all the while for some way to go after a perp. And there just wasn't a gotcha in there that would hold up in court.

What about all the victims that NAME TRUMP directly, that he raped them? It is more than one.......so where is the justice for them?

I believe 100% that Trump raped children, and it isn't from anything other than direct video testimony from those women themselves....

Why aren't we and the news media going after them directly, what kind of cowardice is it? These women deserve justice, even if it is the President of the country, if he is a PEDOPHILE he needs to have the book thrown at him.

Absolutely, protect victims (court order). There is no need to specifically protect famous people. This administration has not shown that they care about protecting the innocent, so why did they take the time to make sure famous people are protected?

Step in their shoe, not in your.

And he owes over 400m in payments to a women he sexually assaulted.

28 women have accused him, but in MAGA world they are lying and Trump isn't, when he is a known liar.

Donald Trump should have been put in prison years ago, he is a habitual liar, we have someone worse than Al Capone in the Whitehouse taking bribes from foreign countries like Qatar, and from businesses here in the USA like Paramount.

He is a conman, and he has a lot of people conned.

LOL for a bookkeeping entry that he didn’t make. Politicized justice (just for the talking point — no punishment) in a biased NY legal system that you ate up! Naive…

    Yeah, exactly right!

She should have gotten a life sentence at least.

Johnson suggested that he would not be in favor of Maxwell getting presidential clemency.

“If you’re asking my opinion, 20 years was a pittance. I think she should have a life sentence at least,” Johnson told the show. “Think of all these unspeakable crimes, and as you noted earlier, probably 1,000 victims. “It’s hard to put into words how evil this was and that she orchestrated it and was a big part of it,” he said. “I think it is an unforgivable thing. So again, not my decision, but I have great pause about that, as any reasonable person would.”

    Maxwell's Conviction in 2021

“A unanimous jury has found Ghislaine Maxwell guilty of one of the worst crimes imaginable – facilitating and participating in the sexual abuse of children. Crimes that she committed with her long-time partner and co-conspirator, Jeffrey Epstein.

From at least 1994, up to and including in or about 2004, GHISLAINE MAXWELL assisted, facilitated, and participated in Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse of minor girls by, among other things, helping Epstein to recruit, groom, and ultimately abuse victims known to MAXWELL and Epstein to be under the age of 18. The victims were as young as 14 years old when they were groomed and abused by MAXWELL and Epstein, both of whom knew that their victims were in fact minors.

So why did Trump say this in 2002?

“I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy.”

“He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”

You do the math. The recruiting and grooming was all happening when Trump, Epstein, and Maxwell were all good friends. Terrific guy, as he said.
